Odd letter from ETS

My wife called me to tell me that I got a letter from ETS today. Apparently there is a problem with the algorithm that they use on the CBT and it may not have provided me with an appropriate range of questions to allow me to accurately demonstrate my abilities in reference to the verbal section - or something to that effect. They are offering me the chance to retake this section and replace the score I received with the new one. Has anyone else received this letter? I took the test on Aug 14. I don't think I'll be retaking it - a 630 should not be an impediment to me getting accepted.

I took mine on Aug. 21 and haven't received a letter. Do you have to retake that section or is it just an option?

A 630?!?! WOW!! Took mine (for what felt like the umpteenth time) on the 19th and haven't heard anything. Will keep an eye out though! A retake on the verbal would be tempting for me...

I wouldn't re-take it unless you're guaranteed the higher score (whichever it may be).

But a 630 is pretty stellar as far as Verbal goes. I was quite pleased with my 540 (got a 500 the second time).

I think I recall somebody posting on here about getting a letter like this last year. I don't remember who, though, or if it was the same, but I thought I remembered it being similar..

Wow. I took mine on the 24th, I havent received any sort of letter but I think I might jump for joy if they offered me a second stab at it. I am an excruciatingly slow reader (due to a disability) and I only made it through 1/2 of my questions. ( accounting for that- I must have gotten them all right, at least)

If you got a 630, I would say that is probably good enough. Personally I would be concerned to risk it. but thats just me. I am not much of a gambler.

After reading the other forum, I am curious...Did you have a second verbal section at the end of your test?

It's just an option. I intend to let the option expire, but I really wish they would hurry up and post my scores. The site says they sent them to the school on 25 Aug.

I had a second math section on my test.

I took the GRE last week and haven't gotten any letter like that... I would let the offer expire though. I got the same verbal as you, and there's NO way I would risk retaking it. It was consistent with my practice test and above average for most (all?) of the vet schools.
