A 75-year-old man develops a burning sensation over his right flank. One day later, he develops an eruption of clustered vesicles on erythematous bases in the same area. Pain associated with the rash is sharp, stabbing, and severe. A drug that inhibits which of the following actions is appropriate?

A) Cell wall synthesis
B) DNA replication
C) DNA topoisomerase activity
D) Ergosterol synthesis
E) Protease activity
F) Reverse transciptase activity
G) Ribosomal protein synthesis (wrong)

what does this guy have?! plz share ur thoughts thank you

ok I see thanks! So in pyelonephritis you'll see a rash as well? or thats separate that you should link if you're thinking of chamydia?
thanks Fatalis you're my hero today! I did nbme 6 yesterday and got so many wrong and my exam is coming up. This is so so helpful.

Another question for you or anyone :

. After being given an infusion of mannitol (400 mM), a healthy person is most likely to have which of the following changes in plasma osmolality and plasma ADH (vasopressin) concentration?

ans : increase plasma osmolaity and plasma ADH. I get why osmolaity increases b/c you lose fluid but why does ADH? Does this mean that with any dieuritics like loops etc you'r ADH will automaticly increase due to water loss.
plz expalin if possible

appreciate it

mannitol works mostly in the kidneys and prevents Na and H20 reabsorption so you pee out more, therefore your body will compensate by increasing ADH in order to preserve h20 stores in the body, also since this will effectively dehydrate you, your serum osm. will increase

ok makes sense thank you!

my question is with any diuretic will you have increase in ADH since you are losing fluid and increase plasma osm ? or just in mannitol..?
