Just got confirmed for June Navy ODS. Just want to make sure this timeline makes sense:

Summer before medical school starts: ODS

Summer between year 1 and year 2: some sorta Navy school or Navy research group. (can you finish dive school in 45 days?).

Summer between year 2 and year 3: Nothing, not even school orders

End of year 3 and start of year 4: ADT rotations

Just want to check that this is possible, and that they´re not going to force me to use one of my ADTs on school orders between years 2 and 3.

You have to do one each fiscal year. So, theoretically, you can do one at the very beginning of your 4th year (before Oct.) and count it as your 3rd ADT, and then do another one after Oct. and have it count as your 4th (and final) ADT.

As a word of caution, they may try. Don't let them. Make sure you have 2 ATs left for auditions.

Just wondering how you got orders as I am having a hell of a time trying to get into the 19 May - 20 June class. I've been pencilled in but can't seem to get my f-ing account activated--the word from systems was it's because my benefit start date is in August, but that sounds like BS to temporarily passify me. I figure it'll get worked out but I need the orders to terminate my lease early.

It´s just that it took about 4 weeks to get penciled in, initially they told me (through my recruiter) no, and later called me back to tell me that someone had dropped out and that they now had room for me. I guess that´s something else I can thank this forum for.

Judging from your comment, though, I guess there´s still plenty of time left for problems to arise.

It seems that, in the worst case scenario, they have to fill in orders by hand to make sure you get your spot.

Guess the emails pay off when you follow them up with about an hour of phone calls--old fashioned orders put in over the phone!

Has anyone told you guys what to expect from the ADTs?

I have no insight there, but I'm sure current residents, GMO's, and terns could give you some feedback, either here or if you contact them through your recruiter (he/she should be more than capable of putting you in touch with people already in the program).

Anecdotally, I hear they're a lot of fun. Most of my intern colleagues did not do them, but the few who did said it was awesome. It is also a nice way to make some early contacts, who you will undoubtedly run into down the road

Seriously, they did none of them? Not even the year 3 and 4 rotation ADTs?

That timeline is correct. It is exactly what I am doing and I am about to finish my 2nd year. They want you to have two AT's left in order to do one in October and November of your 4th year. Just do not sign up for orders between 2nd and 3rd year and you will not get them.
