I am just realizing that some of the schools I applied to require 4 letters of recommendation. However, I only have 3. For some reason I just assumed 3 would be enough.

Do I scramble for another letter now? Might the Dean's letter count as a 4th (wishful thinking)?

Specifically, on FREIDA UC-Davis and Stanford both list "4" as the required #. Anyone applied with 3 and gotten interviews here?

I guess I'm not that worried about it, but it would suck to not get interviews at places because I was short a letter.

so i checked out assorted programs websites after reading this and some did not even mention what you need. Stanford did request 4(!!!) and UCDavis requested 3. I have not seen any request 4 directly like Stanford so far. One of the Harvards actually requested one from Medicine (ut oh, I hope Pediatrics is all right). I wonder how strict these schools are about this. Oh they all pretty much mentioned that you have at least one from a psychiatrist you knows you well clinically.
Any ideas, guys? 😕

I applied to two places that had a 4 letter requirement. I had only three, and wasn't interested in tracking down a fourth. I got interviews at both places and nobody brought it up.

I remember one was SUNY-Stonybrook.

UCSF also says 4 on their website- 2 psych, 2 non-psych.

I may ask for another letter in the next month, but I'm not gonna stress over it. Hate to be lazy, but it is fourth year and as far as I am concerned my ERAS is complete 🙂 .
