I interviewed recently at NYU and I forgot to ask them how many students they have interviewed thus far (or i guess plan to interview by dec 1st). Does anyone know??

I was told however that they will give out 230 acceptances come Dec 1st.
But they expect like 1/2 to accept....

i was there recently and they said they have been interviewing since september 4 days a week...there were about 15 people on my day...the lady said they are going to interview over 1,000 people this year

Hi,
I went to their interview 3 weeks ago and they said they interview about 600 and take about 220

i dont think thats true. the class size is precisely 238..so i dont think they will accept less than the actual class size.

600 total interviews sounds about right..i dont know where someone got the # 1000 from. that doesnt make any sense..and they wont be interviewing that late this year. people forget that NYU started much earlier this year..interviewing in mid september. last year it wasnt like that.

When I interviewed there the other week they said they will be interviewing ~1000 applicants. That is where we are getting this 1000 number from.

did NYU send out email or snail mail for the interview invite? i'm thinking about calling....

I've heard NYU interviewed anyone who applied to them, so the number is about 2500. So your chance of getting into NYU is 250 out of 2500. It's not so bad.

Addmissions people told me it's around 700-800

700-800 max sounds about right. i was told something similar. its not 1000 interviews.
i am just wondering how many acceptances they hand out on december 1st..and whether they just reject everyone else who has interviewed..or perhaps waitlist them..or leave them hanging for a little while..who knows?

I was told they're going to try and interview about 1000 candidates too...?

this is pretty funny nyu interviewing 1000 ppl yah right and its pretty hard to get an interview there so i wonder where u heard anyone who applies gets an interview. lol

Does anyone know how long it takes to get to Laguardia from NYU (and the best mode of transpo.)? My flight back home is at 4pm so I'm hoping I can make it after my interview (intl. flight).

The interview will get out between 12 and 1, so you will have plenty of time to get to Laguardia. I suggest taking a cab. I believe my cab ride lasted 20-30 minutes or so and ran about $30. Mid-day outbound traffic should not be too bad.

It takes about 30 min without traffic with taxi (~$30)

My flight was also at 4:00 pm and I made it without a problem!

Hi toothy,
yeah like shuna said, it's abt 30 mins for around $35 (incl. bridge tax and tip), but you'll finish interview early around 12-1 pm max so that'll give you enough time to go back to hotel and then to the airport.

Good luck!

This just means that the initial batch of acceptance letters will include 230 acceptances. They'll surely send out more acceptance letters as time goes on past this date.

Does NYU still hand out acceptances without interview?

They will fill in every seat by december the 1st...but A LOT of people are going elsewhere...so they have to keep interviewing more people to fill in. Meaning the number of interviews are going to keep rising even after dec 1st. This is how they do it because it is hard to fill in seats for an expensive private school.

I love NY(U)!

so those of u who have interviewed recently...did they menton how many they have interviewed thus far (or will interview by dec 1st?)??

I interviewed there this week and they said they usually get a 30-40% return on acceptances, so with 250 slots thats about...I don't know, I got a 17 on quantitative.

that's crazy. that's like 700 acceptances isn't it?
Lol, do your math. It means out of 2,400 applications (which were received in 2004), 20% of applicants were accepted for their class of 230. Which means 480 people were accepted. When I was there for my interview, they had already received over 3,000 applications this year for their class of 230. So in order to maintain an acceptance number of 480 people out of 3,000 applications, that lowers their acceptance rate to 16%! P.S. here is the source for my numbers.
