to those who chose to read my post, THANK YOU. I have one remaining quesion before I submit my application.
---> I have narrowed it down to 12 schools which I think that I have the best chances of getting in to. I know I have read that 8-10 is the best number of schools to apply to. Do you think that 12 is to many. If this "high number" will negatively affect my potential, I will slim down asap.

I don't think that I am the first to post this question, but I was unsuccesful in my search efforts.

Thanks again

I think 12 schools is fine. If you can afford it then it is better to be safe than sorry.

What are your scores?

In my opinion 12 is a good number of schools. The issue of 'too many' is relative: it depends on how comfortable you are with your application and stats, your odds of being accepted, and how much you can financially commit to the process. There are individuals on SDN that applied to only one or 30+ schools and matriculated into dental school. I don't see how applying to 12 schools harms your potential, so I recommend that you apply to all of your 12 schools.

to respond to the question, I will be taking the DAT in August, I have a 3.5 sci. gpa and about a 3.25 cum. gpa.

thanks for the responces

In that case, 12 is probably a little on the high side of what you'll need to get accepted, presuming a solid DAT score--but like someone posted above, if you can afford it, better safe than sorry. Adcoms won't view you unfavorably because of it. Good luck!
