# of words for Writing Section

3-4 paragraphs or so, theres no word count. You dont have to write a lot and in all honestly its not like your score matters at all. Not that you should just blow it off but its not something you need to worry about.

Heck for me I was just scrambling to get the whole thing written in 30 minutes. I didn't have to worry about trying to pad the essay to fill up more words! But they essays are quite simple and if you address each point you'll do fine and be out of time!

Well, honestly, there is no word count feature available during the test and the time goes pretty fast - you aren't going to want to waste time counting words! I'd say the other posters are right. You need three paragraphs minimum to address the three tasks of the essay. I would just focus on trying to write something in that time that is as well developed as possible, that makes sense, and has as few grammar, spelling, punctuation errors as possible.

From everything that I read and hear, I don't think anyone, even the med schools, give much weight to the writing sample score. I am convinced it is in there just to add an extra hour of time to try to wear us down in between PS and BS.

Someone from creighton SOM came to our school last week to try to sell us on going there. Someone asked him about the writing score and in his exact words "writing score, they score that?" He was joking but his point was they do not even look at the score unless you get an L or lower, even then he said they dont care they just sort of raise their eyebrows at how taht is even possible.
