I am a sophomore after a year at a community college and am off to a really bad start. In community college I managed to pull off a 3.5 but the counselor told me transferring to a college voids that GPA and I start with a 0.0 GPA. After my first semester at college I got a awful 2.308 GPA. I have some shadowing experience and pharmacy technician experience if that counts for anything. I would appreciate any help and thank you for your time.

Undergrad starts fresh with your GPA, but for med school, everything is calculated. If it's a college course work, it counts.

As others have said, everything counts. The best thing you can do is stop listening to that counselor.

It's hard to offer further advice since you didn't ask any other questions. What sort of help are you asking for? Obviously, you should do better from here on out, but that isn't what you're looking for I'd imagine. 😉

Just keep focused and get your grades up for the rest of your undergraduate. Most schools will not discount you for 1 bad semester. It will also reflect well on you if your grades show an upward trend.

You're fine is you can pull up your GPA. You can recover from doing poorly in 1 semester. But for the next semester, you will have to pull up your GPA.

Why do you think you did poorly? Was it the lack of studying or lack of understanding?

Oh wow I didn't know everything counts that's pretty awesome I wish it was like that for college. Also I know blaming a teacher is kind of useless, but it really was the teachers that I had for Bio and Chem. I am retaking both to raise my GPA.

First, use ratemyprofessor, it can be a lifesaver, and second, even if you had a decent average, I'm sure you realize that you need to change something to not have a repeat of your last semester.
