Hello,

I’m posting here because I have not received a response from the admissions office for several months.

I was accepted to the program, paid my deposit, and am in the process of securing tuition funding through FAFSA (partial unsubsidized loan accepted, other loan in progress).

I’m concerned about a prerequisite: I received a D in Organic Chemistry II. The school’s requirements state 8 credits of organic chemistry with lab but do not specify a minimum grade or whether both Organic Chemistry II are required.

Given this, I’m unsure whether I need to retake Organic Chemistry II. If I do not, could my acceptance be rescinded? My offer letter did not mention retaking it, and the school has not contacted me. I would like to avoid the significant cost but want to ensure I meet all requirements.

When I applied through AADSAS, I did not list it as a planned or repeat course, as I was unaware of where to include future coursework. Still interviewed and accepted

Does anyone know if schools sometimes accept candidates with below-C prerequisite grades and note exceptions? Could this be why I was accepted? I’m confused.

I’ve contacted the school multiple times with no response and would greatly appreciate guidance.

Thank you.

You've contacted the school and they haven't responded to you. They already accepted you into the program. I would 100% lay low and try not to draw attention to myself. It's extremely unlikely that they will be looking back at your application/grades now that you've been accepted. There are a million other things for administrators to do getting students ready to start dental school. If I were you, I would tell myself "hey, I've done all I could do" and move on.

All that said, if you are THAT paranoid, I would try to take the class at a community college this summer and just not let the school know unless they ask about it. That could be a backup plan for you of sorts. I ended up getting a C- in Orgo I and I took it again at a local community college by me. Got a A because it was way easier than my main university and also I was more focused because it was the summer.

All that said, I would probably not say anything else. You're accepted, don't give them a reason to take that away.
