since we have all sorts of threads, i think it would be nice to see what schools have already reject students. I know this sounds bad, but it could help students right?

Ill start,

U of Minnisota

Wow, your 1st post and already you have made it "Official".

 j/k

Tufts

OK. This thread does not help anyone. Alot of these rejections are to out of state people who applied to state funded schools.

Now, a useful thread would be those who have gotten *post-interview* rejections. But, I'm pretty sure those won't start rolling in till after Dec. 1st

Has anyone received post interview rejections?

It could potentially help--For instance, if someone posts that they have been rejected, and you've also applied there and haven't been rejected, you would know that you've made it passed one of their "cuts." Thats info I would like to know.

Plus you can also see if people have been rejected from the same schools--so you know you're not alone.

In addition, it gives info to future applicants to avoid a certain schools, especially out-of-staters

Or perhaps they just haven't reviewed your application yet.

Post-interview rejections are much more helpful. Application denials are less-specific certainly even the BEST applicant could get a handful of application denials just by applying to ridiculous schools.

My point exactly 🙂

Ohio State --> out of state and not from BYU
U of Detroit Mercy --> do not have any advance degree (!?!)

one of my buddies got rejected from U or Maryland on friday.

Lets see..thats...

Minnesota
U of Maryland
Meharry
Ohio State
Tufts
Iowa.....

Come on people, no need to be shy. At least if you have not been rejected to any of these schools, you (MAY) be in the running!

Lets see some more posts!!!!

Okay turn this into something a little bit more useful. What do you think brought you down and got you rejected from the schools that were listed?

I applied to 25 schools. Some of them, I should not have; mainly the state school from which I am not a resident. I have three rejection letters: (in order of receive) U Maryland, Ohio, and West Case.

Well I still have 23 more schools to wish for. If I do not get accepted, I will disappear from this forum, because am a big broke a$$ loser.

LOL! Buck up--I got my application denied outright at Ohio State also!

Funny story with that one, they sent me a denial letter prior to the secondary, but the mailman put it in another apartment's mailbox, and that person threw it in the trash. So, multiple weeks AFTER they sent me the denial notice, I called the office to see if they were going to schedule me for an interview (since I'd heard NOTHING from them).

They ended up sending me another denial so I could keep it in my personal files. How kind

Yeah, that's one of the keys. I struggled with that during my application cycle last year, and found out about it first-hand from Iowa and other schools.

With that many other schools still on your list, I'm sure you'll hear good news from somewhere. You could've saved yourself some $$ (heaven knows you'll need it when you actually get to dental school), but I'm sure the feelings of elation will override that when you open acceptance letters.

Ohio State --> out of state and not from BYU
U of Detroit Mercy --> do not have any advance degree (!?!)
Tuft ---> low GPA and DAT
Indiana ---> missing 3rd academic LOR (too lazy to ask)
Stony Brook ---> missing 3rd academic LOR (too lazy to ask)
Buffalo ---> missing High school transcript ( dun wanna spend $300 and 3 months for them to dig my records from their underground Top Secret Boxes)
U of Tennesse (even before submitting my application. They sent a rejection letter along with my requested application)

Larry,

How do you know why you were denied? Did you called them up? My rejection letter only stated that I was not good enough, and that I am a big looser. No information as to why I am a loser.

That is pretty harsh that Tennessee did not even want to see your ADDSAS. Did they ask for the application fee first and then send you a rejection letter. Baltimore sent a letter saying Where da-money. So I sent the 60, and then sent a $60 rejection letter five days latter. If they knew they were not interested, just email me and tell me so. I am not a millionaire; I do not have money to throw a way. I feel scammed.

Com'on Thaxil, dont be so hard on yourself. I am sure your not that big!

I just messing around about calling myself a loser, but you are right. I should quit doing that; I may start believing it.

Where should i start?

Tufts,
Case Western,
Penn,
UNLV

Updated list

U of Minnesota
UNLV

Tufts
Tennessee

Iowa
U of Michigan
Ohio State
Meharry

(people must be planning an acceptance party on dec. 1st, I on the other hand will be planning a rejection party for me and others who would like to join me....ill bring the chips and dip!)

hortan,
Where else did you apply, and what state are you from?

I just talked to someone at Baylor. I called basically because I haven't heard anything from them. So, I called to see if my file was complete. The lady tells me "we have already selected the out of state applicants for this year" (I'm out of state) which means that I have been rejected 🙁

One more for the list........Baylor

I wouldn't necessarily consider that a rejection...it just means that they have selected whom to offer admissions to on Dec. 1. I am sure many of the out of staters will reject the offer which will open up spots for the rest of the applicants.

Also Tuft..
It looks like a handful of us got rej. from Tuft. Anyone has any idea what is up with Tuft? I think my file should not be even completed at this point. They already rejected me. Well I just saved application fee on Tuft.

any more out there? Will people be getting a sworm of rejection letters on the 1st as people will be getting acceptances or what? how does that work>

Marquette:
"we will send out letters on Dec 1st to all.. to tell them either way"

VCU:
"The last group will be interviewed mid Jan"
LOCAL INTERPRETATION: if you dont get an interview in 3 weeks, expect a rejection letter.

Temple:
"We first interview those with 20 and above, witch we have too many of"

Arizona has "regretted" to inform me that I will not be getting an interview.

So, if its not on this list...Arizona.

Ah-man! When am I going to get some more rejections like you guys. I only have three; that not fare!!! I'm just joking.

I receive three rejections two weeks ago, but have not heard from any schools since then? My stats are by no means perfect, and I am expecting a lot more rejections. You know as they say, "Expect for the worst, and hope for the best". Well, I do not know if I am prepare for total rejection, but I am prepared for almost all to reject me.

Should I not send my application fee to Tufts?

3.0 gpa
19 AA
18 PAT

Im thinking a rejection letter is well on its way from them. Is it worth it for me to send them the money?

You already paid to send your ADDSAS, what the hell, try it.

Maybe someone will identify with your application? It is all a mystery to me.

Rezdawg,
don't send the fee, total waste of money. Tufts is not a GPA forgiving school. lots of people here got outright rejections w/ better stats. just my $2.0E-2.

Thats a tough one rezdawg........this is what I would do:

Call or email the adcom at Tufts and tell them about you.....dont just say, this is my stats, do I have a chance? Tell them stuff like, I really wanna goto your school because of ABC, here my stats.....Ive done these things.......blah blah blah

Mard is right....if those numbers are all you got, than you can probably kiss TUFTS goodbye......but as we all know, there is more to an application than the numbers..

Try and give them an overall impression of your application and not just the numbers, and see what their reply is like......I had done this from some schools and got a positive response from some (such as Columbia) and a negative response from others (such as UConn and Buffalo)......so if I did that earlier, I would have saved my $$ for Uconn and Buffalo......

IMHO, I think you should send it and try. You'll never know if you could have gotten in and years from now, maybe you'll say to yourself "darn, i wish i sent in my $55 ...cause who knows what could have been??"

If we're going to spend so much on tuition (etc.), then what's an extra $55 to see if you get into the school you want to go to? Good luck to you! 🙂

Wow, thanks for the responses guys. I will call the adcom and see how it goes. I will play it from there.

Reza,
I sent in my fee KNOWING that i will be rejected. but it worth the shot... you never know (and i havent been rejected yet)

Got my case rejection yesterday!!! yeay...

I got an acceptance letter from UTSA!!! <---Then I woke up and ate some breakfast

my buddie didnt get into Meharry as well, so thats 2 Meharrys!

I am not expecting any acceptance letters this coming Monday because my application was so late (mid Sept) and have not received any interview invitation. However, I also have not received any more rejection letters for weeks now. I don?t know maybe this is good news? I am excepting some more news this coming week. D-Mercy has sent me a letter asking for my grades for this fall quarter. I think they want these grade to see if I maintained or did better in order to give me an interview. So, far this will be one of my best quarters as far a GPA.
