The erg on my current office chair is killing me--lower back and shoulder...going to take a hammer to the piggy bank and invest in something good.

Anyone have any good recommendations?

My group bought me a pininfarina xten when I started and it is awesome. Have you ever slept in a bed at a nice hotel and thought "omg that is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in". Well this chair is like that except for chairs. I think it costs around 2000.

Its very user dependent, at least for me. What others like may be too soft, too hard, or what not. Try a bunch out, and even then it might be difficult, but still a step up.

Holy crap. On Amazon.com there's one for $2999. That said, if they're sturdy enough to last a good ~10+ yrs and they suit, I would spend that much. Some things are just worth it, especially if you spend nearly half your waking hours in them -- don't skimp on ergonomics just because it's "okay" right now, when you first sit down at the start of a day. I spent a few hundred on one several months ago, and it was comfy at the time, but the cushioning is already flattening out and I fear I'll need another before long. I'm going to hunt in a different way next time.

2999 seems high but like I said I didn't buy it. My group did when I was employed.

I have the one with the silver back.

This site lists them at 1999 after a 500 discount. Remember if you are buying it for yourself, you can deduct it as a business expense and that cuts the effective price 40-50% depending on your tax bracket and state income tax.

What a ripoff. Maybe those of you looking to change careers should manufacture chairs. 😀

Countdown until this becomes a job market thread....

Ripoff?

A run of the mill nice office chair is 800. This one is like sitting in a slipper. Definitely a good value in my opinion (especially if you aren't paying for it! )
