Our organization allows appropriately trained employees to keep firearms for personal protection so I think between the 4 or 5 of us if things get out of control we can hold off any unwelcome people on our property or creating an unwelcome environment for pain patients.
 
Think I’m a believer now. Last night the looting/destruction here spread far out of the urban areas to surrounding small cities/towns. A gun store was one of the businesses cleaned out.

It's a terrible situation. I completely understand the human rage. I don't understand the crimes against the property of innocent people.

I don't know what people expect, the officer was fired and charged with MURDER.

Floyd was a violent criminal, most recently completing a sentence for breaking into a woman's house, putting a gun into her stomach and terrorizing and robbing her. Now the real victim, the woman, gets to see her abuser memorialized as a martyr.

In other news, Lana Del Rey is criticized for sharing actual video feed of looters in action. The criticism is that she put the looters at risk for exposing them for looting. The world is upside down.

They expect it NOT TO HAPPEN. He wasnt a good guy, but that cannot be used as any sort of justification for killing the guy.

Your posts and rarionalization is what people talk about when they reference 'white privilige'.

I'm only objecting to the lionization of this criminal. Being the victim of police misconduct, even murder, does not make you a hero.

As far as "justification for killing", in no way did I imply that. I think Floyd's history is potentially relevant only to the extent it is compatible with an argument the officers felt threatened.

This kind of thing doesn't usually happen to 80yo black librarians.

You are digging the hole deeper. You offered yet another rationalization.

Nobody is calling this guy a hero.

Bottom line: if he were white, he'd still be alive. Dont you think thats pretty messed up?

The bottom line actually is that if Floyd were not a criminal, he would be alive today.

If everything else were equal and his skin were white, I think he would still be dead.

I think a lot of the looters are actually punk high school/college kids, with no political affiliation.


But with liberal parents.

I think we can all agree that Biden is more of a figurehead/placeholder, attractive to some because of the belief that the civil service, academia, and mass media will be a better steward of the country than a true executive/commander type person.

As with all figureheads, refined image and behavior take on primary importance. Executive decision making and making decisions with your "gut" are an abomination. Figureheads don't make decisions. They merely reflect the "science" and general consensus as portrayed by the media.

remember Floyd was last arrested for a crime in 2007. nothing since then. 13 years a long time ago.

and at present, there are ZERO arrest warrants out for George Floyd.

actually, as an anesthesiologist, you are aware that desaturation occurs in 2-3 minutes. even if he had an arrest record, is there any justification for 8 minutes 46 seconds of asphyxia by chest compression, with 2 minutes 53 seconds of no movement at all, on someone already handcuffed?

I can't see any justification for it but I wasn't there. I don't believe in mob justice based on a TV video. Investigate, prosecute if indicated. If racism is determined to be a factor, expose it and deal with it.
