are you referring to a discrete or a passage-based question? there were probably 1-2 difficult/esoteric orgo questions but the test was generally pretty light in the orgo dept as expected.

On my version, there were 2 whole passages in the BS section that were Orgo-based. I don't think I can be any more specific than that, but there were definitely questions of the type I described. They weren't actually that hard. I just find that question type to be really annoying.

Hey, I totally agree with you about the point you were making about the orgo question you got and your frustrations. I get that the MCAT should measure various things but petty questions like what you were describing, to me, denigrate the legitimacy of the test. The MCAT should be a good barometer of your scientific, verbal, and critical thinking skills....it shouldn't be Kafkaesque. The verbal was hit or miss, but there was one passage that really infuriated me because the questions were really ignoring the main idea and were honing in on petty little details. Obviously, I'm being overly vague because of the rules regarding post-MCAT discussion but it really irked me.

Does anyone feel any better about the test after letting a few days go by? I can say for sure i feel better now about it than when i walked out of that test center.

Haha, I'm beginning to feel worse.

I walked out saying "thank you, it's over. I gave it my best and I feel just as good as I did on the practices I took"

and now I'm saying "oh crap, I think this answer to ____ was _____ not ____!! I'm such an idiot... oh no...if I think I had that one, then what about the others I thought were easy...ugh!!"

I've almost gotten over that though, because there were a few I was like "I think it's _______ " and come home and remembered things to look up and got a few correct I was unsure of.

I definitely only had 1 orgo based passage on mine. So either 1 of the others was experimental or each person's is slightly different.

I made it a point to try and forget every question so i wouldn't be tempted to look up the answer to it. Whats done is done, and theres nothing we can do to change our score.

Actually, i was the opposite of you. I went from "oh crap" walking out, to " it feels like my practice tests" now.

Anyway, good luck

This was my third time taking the MCAT (I know, not good). And for the first time, I came out with a neutral feeling. I honestly have no idea how I did but I am praying that I was closer to my practice average (34-35) than my previous tests (26, 29). Optimistic outcome: 12, 10, 12 Realistic outcome: 10, 9, 10
Pessimistic outcome: 8, 8, 8
I have already submitted secondaries to six schools so if this score comes back poorly, I will have wasted over $1000 🙁
Let's hope that we all do well! Good luck to everyone this cycle.

29 still isn't bad...you'll have some trouble but if everything else in your app is there I don't see why you can't get interviews.

We'll see in a few weeks...

yesterday I dreamt I got a 13 12 13 lol...*sigh* this is going to be a long 4ish weeks 🙁

I suggest you ALL read the 7/6 MCAT thread (especially my posts...I was freaking out). We went through all of this and more, but most of us did well when our tests came out.

Some people tried to post words on encouragement on our thread but we dismissed it because "our test must have been different". Although it is impossible, I suggest you guys try not to worry about it. Chances are the majority of your scores will be the averages of your AAMC tests.

Good luck

score related dreams have cometh... somehow got 22 with 8/9/8... dream addition fail. Sept 7th cant come soon enough...

Haha, I had a dream too last night. I got a 1, 1, 1 J and it said my scores weren't available... oh well.

Haha i havent checked the THx system, the longer I go without checking it a first time then the less amount of times i will repeat checking it all day every day until the score actually comes.

Yeah I'm not even going to bother until you guys say it's up. I was talking about my dream, though. The screen said 1, 1, 1 J and they weren't available (even though I could see them).

Kinda sad I'm dreaming about MCAT stuff but if the whole process wasn't so stressful I would already be over it

Yeah i think ive dreamed of THx's page at least once too... 😵.

My basic thoughts:

"Man I probably did good (insert dream scores here)... BUT WHAT IF I DIDNT? (Insert nightmare scores here)..."

Exactly 3 weeks from now...

What do you guys honestly think takes so long for the scores to come back? If it's all pre-set, shouldn't we get them back immediately after the test? Do they maybe compare how we did on the sections to people in the past, and scale ours accordingly, either up or down? The essay obviously needs to be graded but I can wait on that.

no idea...this wait is killing me tho. I went from thinking I did ok, to thinking I did horrible, back to thinking I did ok lol

Exactlyyyyy. And what worries me is PS. It was so easy... but looking at 7/16s scores now makes me even more worried. They had a really easy PS as well considering what they were saying after the test, and they're all getting 10s and 11s. PS is my weakest usually so I'm scared... and no one ever knows with verbal, I always feel confident about my answers then AAMC comes with crappy explanations as to why I'm wrong...

At least I think I have a good shot at 13+ for BS... please let me get 13+ for BS....

Maybe they don't use computers..are scoring manually ! 😱 :scared:

They outsourced the MCAT scoring to china to save money. The tests are printed out and taken to china on donkeys and are brought back the same way. WS scores are given based on how little the person reading it can understand.

This 😛
However, WS were outsourced to India, to save some more money... just a word of mouth.

Yeah, we'll see. PS was one of my stronger sections, I had a 13 PS average between AAMC 8,9,10,11... the test we got had a couple questions that I wasn't sure on but you never know. Don't think our test was "easy" but it was doable. About as difficult as the practice tests. A few really easy ones, and a couple tricky ones. Always had a "guess" on a couple and I had to do the same thing on our test.

Verbal is a toss up. I had a 10 VR average and thought this VR was easier than practices. Thinking I got an 11 but you're right, there are some fd up explanations sometimes which probably will put me back down.

The BS I thought was fair, got all the ones right that I looked up afterward but that Mouse passage just killed me. Had a 13 average for this too.

I went from thinking I did well/my average to thinking I did bad, to thinking I did well, to thinking I did bad again. Just a roller coaster.

I'd be happy with a 33+. I studied for 6 weeks for this test, going to be mad if I wasted that much time for anything less.

I dont remember a mouse one... I do remember a RNA one that was a killer. I think I did okay on it (1-2 wrong maybe?) I've been pretty good at doing well on tough BS passages, but i wouldnt mind that one being experimental and removed...

We might've had different versions. I remember that passage too, and I had to "guess" on 1 answer. The mouse/pig one I'm referring to was easy (so you might have just forgotten about it), I just choked a little bit. Think I still picked good answers, but I wasn't 100% sure.

I didn't think any one particular passage was tough, there were a few tough questions thrown around throughout the section, though. We'll see in a few weeks..

I too had a mouse one, but not an RNA one. At least not a whole passage concerning RNA.

Ah guys I took 8/06... sorry if im getting u confused lol, i forgot that i was in 8/05, 8/06's thread is kind of dead...

Haha, it's all good. We get our scores the same day so it's all the same. I remember a passage too discussing RNA on 8/5, but discussing anything more would be violating policy, so....

Also, kinda worried I accidentally voided...I clicked the "wish to have my MCAT scored" immediately just cuz I was used to doing it on my practices...hope they didn't switch it up on me or I'd be FUUUUUUUUUUU

did anyone get an insane orgo passage on a certain molecule???? i didn't think we had to know anything about those?! that one- and the mouse one, were the hardest two passages of the entire test IMO...verbal included

I had an orgo passage about a mystery molecule ... that's all I remember though.

There was 1 tough PS passage if I remember correctly, I think it was experimental, though.

i had that one too...the one with all the reactions right? yeah the passage i'm talking about is different...no one i've talked to got this passage

Alright, ridiculous MCAT dream last night.

I somehow had precognition in a world coming to an end. I knew I would score poorly on the 8/5 MCAT, so I signed up for the 8/23 MCAT. I had a house with my friends to maintain a group of people in case anyone tried to break in and loot our place, but I was still going to take the MCAT (don't know why). So I get to the testing site and it's in a crappy, rundown basement of some building. I had some kid from my highschool's ID card (haven't spoken to him in forever, wasn't even really friends with him) and I showed that to the woman at the testing site. She let me in anyways. Get to the PS section. The questions are absolutely RIDICULOUS. For example I had questions like.

ART
CAT
_ _ _

a) D O G
b) R U G
c) O U R
d) H I M

or the same thing only with shapes. And there wasn't passages, there were videos that you had to watch instead. The videos were all so long, too. I got through the 1st 2 discrete questions like the ones above and had 45 minutes left. I freaked out and left.

Get back to my house and it was being broken into by a bunch of rioters. My friends and I fought them off, but our house was now on fire. We left and went to the school. Then a storm woke me up.

Anyways, having dreams like this sucks. Wish I had better things to be stressed out about.

lol...that was an MCAT dream? I haven't had any really crazy dreams. Sometimes I dream of questions that I've never even heard of and that don't make any sense lol. Almost two weeks later I have the same feeling now as I did when I left. Which is I think I did ok. Even tho I realized this morning I got one of the questions in PS wrong :bang: (don't you hate when that happens?). And now I feel like I got an 8 in PS. I'd feel a lot better if not for the BS =\. Maybe I'm just over reacting to that one orgo passage. We'll see how that changes as release date approaches.

I got the mystery molecule question too. If it makes you feel any better, I spent more time on that passage than I should have as well.

I know the feeling, i know i got at least three questions wrong in PS and its killing me, one was an easy motion question that i had no business getting wrong, since i did dimensional analysis and just forgot the last step. I'm still hoping that I hit my AAMC avg of 11 on PS, Had a lot of orgo on my BS and there was one i got wrong and one im iffy about thats bugging me but cant talk about... :/

so i have a random question. when u have more than one set of MCAT scores how does it show up in thx? does it list the most recent set of scores on the top? i'm only asking because i dont wanna freak myself out by thinking i got a ****ty score twice lol

Yes, the most recent scores show up on top, but it's stretched pretty wide across the screen (if that makes sense) so you'll see all the scores as you're looking at each individual section.

I really need to stop logging into AAMC with the faint hopes of scores being accidentally posted early.

haha i know could u imagine. i think about this test all the time and i feel cycles of optimism and pessimism.:scared:

no one asks me ever haha...which is good. since i got back to school its been easier to pass time

First visit to the THx scores page... held off long enough i guess, now I'll probably be checking multiple times a day until the 7th...
