This doesn't count for a med school, but I won the Gates Cambridge Scholarship 😀. I wonder if I should accept...I guess I'll have to find out whether I can defer at my possible med schools for a year.

My roommate won a (different) scholarship to Cambridge as well, maybe you'll run into each other there? Also, which college(s) will you be applying to at Cambridge?

And yeah, I think this is one of the few instances in which you're likely to get a deferral from med schools.

I sent mine in. OHSU told me I may be able to get a bit, but usually not for MSTPs. Doesn't hurt to try, especially if you have extenuating circumstances.
