Thank goodness! I applied to WUSTL because of a particular pair of researchers doing excellent work, but I really didn't want to be in St. Louis. Now I don't have to make that decision :D

I'm not sure what the Tri-I is looking for but if myself (triple major [eng., math, bio], 3.68, 37Q, 2 pubs) and alacast (triple-major, 3.96, 38R, 2 first-author pubs) are rejected, who's left?

I was vainly hoping to receive some good news first, but I got the thin envelope from WUSTL today. Well, seeing that even alacast got rejected makes me feel slightly better about my overall chances.
 
So much rage... What do you guys and gals do when a school you consider yourself to be really competitive at (for me, Einstein) rejects you pre-interview? I start to wonder: maybe my LoRs weren't as strong as I thought, maybe I wrote crappy essays... what else could it be? I mean, UCSF and Cornell rejections I can understand because I don't come from the ivy league, and I don't have any pubs, but Einstein?

Rage: off; but comments and replies would still be appreciated.

Einstein is a strange one indeed. My buddy got accepted to Tri-I, WashU, and UCSD, but rejected pre-interview from Einstein...
 
I wasn't surprised by the reject email, so I won't gripe here - but I sure did dance around the house when I got the MD invite two days later.

einstein must think you would never go... has to be it..why waste their time, when they know you'll end up somewhere better.

The thin envelope arrived in the mail two days before my 21st birthday. My parents, with their everlasting faith in me, saved the envelope for my birthday and put it on the table with my cards, assuming it was good news. It wasn't.

Anyway...they now know that if it comes by snail mail, there's a 99% chance that I already know what it says or it's bad news.

Ah well. The medical school started to excite me as I did the research to fill out the secondary this July, but there wasn't any research solidly in my vein there.

This was sad. Pittsburgh had several people doing fun research in the areas of my interest, and is a cool town, to boot. It wasn't my #1 choice (more like #5), so the world hasn't ended yet, but a rejection from a school I would have actually be pretty happy going to is a little disheartening.

I emailed and asked. They said they sent out the snail mail stating acceptances/rejections on October 15.
 
Totally a bummer. it has a really unique grad program that quickly became a top choice. interviewed there, thought it went well but i guess you just never know, right ? i'll just say its their loss
