Is there any way we can have stats with these too? It'd be nice to be able to see where people stand since this is rolling process that take the higher stats first. It would be a way for people to see the progression of the acceptances from higher stats to lower stats and where they stand in that spectrum.

I wasn't saying you specifically, but rather the entirety of this post. It would be useful to allow applicants to gauge where they stand as the acceptances move from the apps with higher stats to the lower

What purpose does a list of acceptances serve besides further the egos of those who have been accepted? At least make this useful for those who haven't yet

Actually I can draw inferences and helpful hints from this list.

1) I know how fast each school accepts applicants (if I want further details can I can check the MDapps page of those who got in). By knowing this I can plan my interview year accordingly (since I am a non-traditional student I could even take last semester off if I got in early).

2) If there are a lot of students on this thread that are getting into a certain school, the school maybe OOS friendly (of course I would investigate this further).

3) If there are schools that people are getting into more, I could even infer that this school is really good (maybe due to faculty, state of the art facilities etc.).

This thread makes me happy to see how many of us SDNers were successful this year. This has nothing to do with stroking my own ego. I love seeing this thread become updated.

Although, I do agree with you that the added info would be helpful.

So it would make sense to add information like the statistics. Underdogs have that, but it doesn't give you a trend, other than show that osteopathic schools want higher MCATs even if the person did poorly in undergrad.

+1 I think that would be helpful and interesting to see. This list alone can't tell you much without doing more research on that person or the school specifically.
 
Your GPA and MCAT are important for getting an interview. Getting accepted tends to depend on how you performed on your interview day and whether they liked, or even remembered you when they meet to decide. The GPA and MCAT info that you want would probably be more useful on an interview invite thread.

We all get to know each other online during this crazy process and this thread is a nice way of keeping up with everyone's successes.

How is knowing everyone's stats helpful? You've already applied and all you can do now is wait.

Nobody on this list cares about their stats anymore. They've been accepted and that's all that matters.

You know what might be helpful, a waitlist thread. Follow the same format as this, but then if you get accepted off the waitlist just add a note saying when.

Not trying to be a dick, but it looks like I should explain the process briefly. Early on, schools take students with higher statistics, whether they prefer a higher MCAT or GPA is obviously on the school. By knowing the acceptances and their stats, we can judge approximately when we would hear anything from the school. Say MedPR gets and interview/acceptance at X and has an MCAT/GPA of Y/Z, then the next person with MCAT/GPA of Y-1/Z-1 can see when it is his or her turn to expect something from school X. Make sense? if not, good luck.

This is completely wrong. It seems logical, but it's still wrong. I have interviews at MD schools that have rejected people with 3.8+/35+. People with lower stats than me have gotten interviews/acceptances at DO schools that have yet to get back to me. People with higher stats than me have gotten rejected/not heard back from schools that have interviewed/accepted me.

It'd be wrong if all of my in-state schools did not work that way, but the fact is, they do. MSUCOMs advisers tell everyone that they accept high stats first, knowing that they will eventually find a seat at MD programs, then eventually by the end of the year through the winter, they will begin replacing those with applicants with lower stats. This goes for many schools.

You are absolutely correct. If I've learned ANYTHING from this whole process, it's that NOBODY can accurately predict or tell you what will happen with your app. I mean yes, generalities exist and you can extrapolate some from that, but at the same time it's frequently a crap shoot and all your statistic-finding can be blown away by the whim of an adcom.
Still, I understand the driving need us pre-meds have to find patterns and predict things. It's one of our defining characteristics. So with that in mind, it's no problem for me to tack my MCAT/cGPA after my handle on the accepted list.

By knowing the acceptances and their stats, we can judge approximately when we would hear anything from the school. Say MedPR gets and interview/acceptance at X and has an MCAT/GPA of Y/Z, then the next person with MCAT/GPA of Y-1/Z-1 can see when it is his or her turn to expect something from school X. Okay there cranky pants. There are a lot of factors that go in to being accepted or getting an interview. A big one being how early you apply. For example, I got accepted to AZCOM and applied very early. People who applied later with identical stats got put on hold so my stats for being accepted mean nothing for people just now submitting a secondary. You can keep being aggressive and voicing how much you hate this tread doesn't have stats attached to it or you can just start your own. I know a lot of people get their kicks out of starting pointless debates on an online forum, but I'm not one of them. Best of luck to you in life dude, but really the hijacking of this thread should stop.

If people wanna put their stats after their name, cool. If not, it won't change who does/doesn't get in somewhere.
 
rawr. I do know this is how a few schools function, namely MSUCOM. It was a suggestion that didn't click for some, so I just put it out there.

Your handful of state schools don't dictate the trend amongst the other medical schools.
