Just wanted to post that I've officially made my decision to stick with UCI's post bacc program!

I was accepted to UCI's and UCSDs, denied from UCSF and UCD. Never heard anything from UCR. Thank you all for the extremely helpful posts, its been a HUGE help to have been on this forum and talk to everyone going through this same process. For everyone still waiting-- DONT lose hope! There is still UCR and I truly believe EVERYTHING happens for a reason and one way or another we will all reach our goal. 🙂

If you can, take M143, Human Parasitology in the fall. The professor is really cool and it's a super fun class. If you're required to take Cell Bio (D103), defer it to winter quarter because the professors are way better. Also, they'll most likely make you take Advanced Biochemistry (M114). Another really fun class and the teacher is awesome. If you need Immunology (M121), take it in the fall because the professors are great. Congrats on choosing UCI.

Hi Y'all! I was rejected by UCI and UCSF. I was invited to interview at UCD on May 3rd but was out of the country so I waited to interview on May 23rd. They called a couple days later to accept me! I am very excited and have accepted but a little perplexed as to why UCLA and UCR haven't said anything yet I was very interested in UCLA's program....

What made you choose davis over sf?

It was an EXTREMELY tough choice, however, UCD's program lined up better with my goals and personality. I also have a closer relationship with the coordinators at Davis. Folks at UCSF are pretty amazing though and the alumni I spoke with had wonderful experiences.

I've called a few times too and no one has answered. I hope they are still giving interviews. It's so late in the process though, it scares me a little. I know they typically interview late in the process, but how late?😵😵

Yeah. From everyone I have talked to, UCR has been silent. No one has heard anything. Makes me wonder if they are still doing the program this year.

I thought about that too, but I think they are still doing the program. If they weren't I think they would've sent an email telling us that due to budget cuts or something the program was canceled. they typically receive a budget for their program in advance so I doubt that is why we haven't heard from them.

I got a hold of someone on the UCR program this past Monday. It was mentioned that they are still reviewing application and will be sending out interview invitation mid to late June. So, we are all still on the same boat. 🙂

Just got my first 4.0 GPA in my most difficult and final quarter at my undergraduate university. 18 units upper div bio! I'm sincerely not trying to brag, I'm just incredibly proud of myself and I worked extremely hard to do it.

congrats on graduating! Keep up that motivation and you'll kill it in your post bacc year with straight 4.0s!

I vaguely remember the office telling me that they would ask for spring grades if necessary, like if we were accepted into a program. I would call the office to be extra sure though.

I haven't heard but keep your hopes up cause they won't stop interview until Friday I believe. This past year there were 10 students total, hopefully they increase it this coming year.

No word from UCR on my end either. I got a hold of someone a couple of weeks ago and they told me that they are tentatively looking at the end of july for the program start date, So interviews can take place up until then. I find it odd that none of us have heard from them. I wonder how this plays out in terms of preparing for the MCAT.

They keep saying they're very busy and are running a little behind. I mean... I kinda don't get it. I understand instructions might not began until August, but what about MCAT prep? Interview process? 😵

I agree, it's strange that none of us have heard a thing from UCR. Has anyone spoke with them lately??, last time I contacted them was in late June, but I'm wondering if someone has spoken to them since then. It makes me worried about MCAT prep bc I'd like to take the test before the 2015 changes.
