Did you first go through the schedulity.com suite to make an appt date? I called yesterday and they told me to check opening dates every day to see if earlier dates would open.

No, I just called the number given on schedulicity. I told them my schedule is really tight after January and asked them if they can help. I guess i got lucky :eyebrow:?!

So I am a re-applicant, I am a little concerned because I applied late since I was preparing to retake the DAT. I've applied to many schools (it's a big number). I basically applied to any school I had any chance of getting into. What are my chances of getting interviews? Last year, I interviewed at MWU-AZ, MWU-IL, and USC, but I was wait-listed at all three schools.

Since my last application, I graduated (Major - Biology; Minors - Chemistry and Religion; Certificate - Conceptual Foundations of Medicine), did additional research at a dental school, continued shadowing dentists, took four online science courses, and retook the DAT. Currently, I am trying to find a dental assistant job. So far, I've completed the requested supplemental apps/fees, but I have not gotten any interviews yet.

You're a re-applicant and you submitted it late October? Why did it take you so long to retake the DAT?

Did you have any improvements in your DAT score and are they updated on AADSAS? It has only been like two weeks since you mailed them so I wouldn't be so worried already. For me I am still waiting for Maryland interview after three months of submitting supplemental. As a pre-dent, hearing that all three interviews ending up rejections sounds so terrifying. I am sorry to hear that.

Yeah, it was a mistake... but I submitted it on 9/30 and the mail out date was 10/23! I was hoping I would get into one of the three schools, so I didn't decide to retake the DAT till July in anticipation. I also was taking classes at the time.

Yes, I have made improvements and they have been updated on AADSAS! My AA/TS increased one point each (some scores stayed the same within; one major increase was bio from 15 to 18). There were some other improvements as well in my application. I hope you get the Maryland interview... I am still waiting on the Maryland supplemental!

I even thought my interviews all went well. I didn't get rejected right way... I was wait-listed but they turned out to be rejections at the end. Hopefully I'll get into school. I will also be updating the schools about a dental assistant job that I am starting very soon.

Hope we both get into school this cycle! Fingers crossed

u got 3 interviews which became 3 waitlist with a 15BIO, 19AA, 18TS?? just last year? with ~3.3 GPA? im surprised by this result. I thought sub 17 especially in science stands no chance.

Well at the time, it was over 3.5 GPA and over 3.3 science GPA. And I know people who have been accepted into dental school with those stats (including the 19AA and 18TS)... but yeah, my bio was def low last year. I have improved my stats this year. But I guess it comes down to the interview... I was so close since I got waitlisted. Hoping to get interviews and get accepted this year!

Keep that motivation and you'll get it. If you don't get in then retake your dat for sure and maybe think about a post grad program. But if you get in then you save a lot of money.

Why are you applying to the U.S with a >3.8 GPA?
 
My GPA is 3.8 with the AADSAS scale, but around a 3.65 on the Canadian OMSAS scale. Canadian dental schools are much harder to get into, especially with anything below a 3.8.

Is it 3.8 on AADSAS because of A+'s, or? I'm Canadian as well, and going to apply next year. Also, not sure if you know, but UofT drops your worst year, and Western drops your worst two years (provided you have taken a full course load all four years).

Basically for Canadians an A (80-90) is converted to a 4.0, and a A+ (90+) is converted to a 4.3. So you can see, the AADSAS conversion scale works in our favour. Yes I am aware of that, but even with that I don't think I'm that competitive (best two years around a 3.75 with OMSAS).

They don't give you an interview date, you are to call in and ask for any day Monday-Friday, I asked for a post December 1 date but they don't allow interview bookings 3 weeks ahead of time... Plane ticket prices are outrageous! So we'll see... Just happy I got an interview invite 🙂

Just got wait listed for interview for MWU-AZ. Any else get wait listed? And also, for those of you who have been waitlisted, anyone hear back from the wait list... I mean get an interview after being on the waitlist?
 
Mail out date was August 7th, have not heard anything from 12 of my 14 schools since receiving application complete emails middle to end of August. Time to start calling?
