To everyone still in school and in M2: how are you managing studying? Finding it hard with full time classes. Don't start dedicated till May...

Took NBME 15 today. Scored 217. I'm scheduled to take the real test in mid June. Up to this point, I have done 1500 qs of USMLE Rx (~75% performance). I'm planning to start UWorld tomorrow, doing a block per night until school is over in May. Hopefully by then I'll have done one pass of UWorld, so I can do another one in my 5 weeks of dedicated study.

I would like some insight about my situation. Is my plan good? Do I have a good "baseline" score?

Anyone tried the lionel raymond integrated cases videos? Are they good for a quick revision?
He has a free webinar coming up on March 28th. so you can find out for yourself.
I have attended many free webinars and they are great.
He really integrates and explains the concepts well.
AFAIK the full course is about 40 hrs, so I don't know if you'll call it a quick revision.

when did u take ur exam? i wrote mine on 24 feb. My exam was very general, biostats was difficult though. Had mixed feelings after the exam

Someone mentioned they did 7 Uworld blocks in a row so it was like taking a full length exam

Did 7 Uworld blocks in 8 hours time like the real thing and got 75% avg which is a 257 on that correlation chart 👍

The avg of all my blocks, it's like 245. 👍

Goal is 250 on the real deal 👍 but I can only get low 230 on the NBMEs (15+16) 👎👎👎

Goodluck buddy! At least your taking it before the changes man they sound daunting

Wish you luck for ur result. When did u take ur exam and how was it?

I posted a short impression a couple pages back on this thread. I didn't feel terrible at any point during the exam. I was lucky in that I didn't have a couple extremely difficult blocks like some people report. There were probably 2-8 questions per block that I could get it down to 50/50 or I just had no idea on. Fairly balanced spread of topics. Question stems were longer than NBME but probably a bit shorter, on average, than Uworld with the exception of a few multi-paragraph questions that didn't require 90% of the information in the stems.

Sounds like you crushed it, goodluck!

Faced the beast. Def made some dumb mistakes, but I think this is inevitable. Doubt I reached my goal, but it's truly impossible to speculate. Glad it's over, and I will elaborate once I receive the truth. For those wondering, my exam was a mix of every type of question, of all levels of difficulty ranging from the relative simplicity of NBME 11 to the complexity of NBME 18, along with plenty of UWorld/UWSA-esque questions peppered throughout. Hands down the hardest test I've ever taken, but also the most interesting challenge of all the tests I've taken. It was fair, but incredibly ambiguous. I had no problems with timing personally; the blocks felt like 7 incredibly difficult UWorld-NBME blended type blocks, and I treated them as such.

Can someone clarify the source that states there are experimental questions on the exam? I'm starting to believe the whole idea is just a product of hive-mind word-of-mouth and that they don't exist. Can't find discussion about them anywhere on the NBME website.

Shout out to the crew for the support all the way through. @tasar1898 @walakin25 @Transposony @Tri723 @masaraksh @drimo786

More shoutouts to come once I get my score. Received a lot of help on this board and I appreciate everyone's willingness to share their knowledge. 🙂

Can someone point me in the direction of where my score will be reported, and explain how long it will take to receive it?

Congrats on being done with the beast buddy! Dont even bother worrying about the whole "how many questions can I miss.." Go and have some fun now, you'll do great. If you found any questions difficult, chances are most people blew it. Best wishes on results.

Congrats on being done. I am sure you will get a score to be proud of and may even create a record on SDN.
I think you score should come out on the 3rd Wed from the coming Wed.
Re: experimental questions -- Source: The Kaplan faculty (Dr Steven Daugherty). So, it's not a myth.
And as walakin25 said, there in no point in playing the whack-a-mole game about the right/wrong questions now--just enjoy your time.

I doubt I hit 270 haha. Thanks for the other information though, I was just curious. Haven't gotten out of bed yet lol

Question for you guys.....when someone says their permit disappears they mean the link, right? For example, they can no longer download their permit?
I'm expecting result coming wed..and link vanished just now..scary!! You cant download the permit right after you take exam.

3 Wednesdays including this coming Wednesday? Or this Wednesday, and then 3 weeks later?
Maybe recent test takers can shed some more light into this.
AFAIK three Wednesdays following this coming Wednesday but sometimes it may take more. So, don't freak out if you don't receive your score by April 6th.

.....................week 1 ..........................week 2............................week 3
March 16th -----------> March 23rd------------> March 3oth -------------> April 6th

First of all just ignore about experimental qs and deal with all qs to do your best. Coming to the concept of experimental qs.....FIRST pls try to understand what are experimental Qs...these are nothing but future testable qs and will be given in exam for statistical purpose.

I am NOT sure but this is just my personal assumption that "Experimental Qs range from Very difficult to Easy Qs" and they are just future testable qs given to us for statistical purpose, for their validity". 😉 Don't think, Difficult Qs are Experimental and Easy/Moderate Qs will be Graded...Anything can be possible and it would be impossible for us to know in exam...Each exam will have experimental qs which are not countable for grading...

Just face each q at a time to give your best and forget about experimental qs. All the best !👍

Update on my progress...

My true dedicated starts in about a month. I've really fallen behind in my studies, school has taken over unfortunately.

Rx 35% completed: 79% average
Kaplan 22% completed: 69% average
Anticipated test date: July

I'm hoping I can pull up my scores quiet a bit. Really looking to hit a 250+ if possible.

Just took the USMLE 2 days ago and I can confidently say that my MS1/MS2 performance was far and away more important than dedicated step studying.

BUT............IMHO................you can still get a good score (around 250) by understanding concepts and doing tons of questions and asking yourself "Which other way can they ask this concept?"

Hey guys, I am taking my exam in a few days and was wondering if someone could comment on how the UWSAs match up to the real thing in terms of question types/integration/difficulty and how accurate those scores are? I've finished Uworld and now just going through FA (hoping thats enough these last few days). Any advice would be much appreciated!!

Oh I have a firm belief in that as well, we have actually finished classes at my school now and we are doing final wrap up things/test out etc currently, that happen to take up a lot of time and studying, but no new information.

Waiting for score, took it on 25th Feb, not sure whether that will be today or next week.
My link disappeared on Monday. Amazing how hard it is to push it out of my mind :-(

I just hope it comes today, wont be able to contain the mental agony for another week.

Got my score today..Special thanks to all SDN fellows as I learned so much from all of you!! I'm going to share a brief review of my NBMEs and UWSA:

NBME 12(offline): 163/200 ( 3.5 months out, before Uworld)
UWSA 1: 263 ( 1 month out after completing Uworld and 2nd read of FA)
back to back UWSA 2 + NBME 13(offline): 263 / 186/200, 2 weeks out)
back to back NBME 17 + NBME 16: 256 / 260
Real Deal: 257

My exam was more like Uworld than NBME type, question stem were longer than Uworld and I didnt manage time well due to overthinking. I delayed my exam 3 weeks thinking it will help me but actually it didnt, I was just getting frustrated and drained and wanted it to get over. After the exam I wasnt sure how I did but I wasnt devastated, just glad that its over. Best of luck to everyone!!
