Why should NYCOM and LECOM students have all the fun? For those of you whose school doesn't already have a self-bashing thread, and you are too timid to start your own, please post your dislikes here. If you are not sure whether or not you actually hate your school enough to post, then simple examples have been provided for you. Don't worry about the moderators; they never shut down school bashing threads because that would be an infringement of your First Amendment rights. Feel like you want to post? Then go ahead. Need help? Check out the examples below.

1. I hate my school's attendance policy because...
a) they make me go to class every day.
b) they have assigned seats.
c) cruel and unusual punishment.
d) those powerpoints interfere with my sleep.
e) we don't go to class. We just go with OSUdoc to the sports bar and drink all day. (How does he do that?)

2. I hate my school's dress code because...
a) I have to wear a tie.
b) no bluejeans are allowed.
c) cadavers and sandals are cool together.
d) we don't have a dresscode.
e) we go naked. Then, we just go with OSUdoc to the sports bar and drink all day. (How does he do that?)

3. I hate the faculty at my school because...
a) they might have a PhD, but I'm a lot smarter.
b) they talk all during the lecture.
c) they get all the best parking spaces.
d) they make us dress in drag and sing old Broadway show tunes when we miss class (refer to 1c above).
e) they all hang out with OSUdoc at the sports bar and drink all day. (How does he do that?)

4. I hate my school's food and drink policy because...
a) I'm too old to be told what to do.
b) what will I do with all the granola already in my book bag?
c) 20 year-old scotch is the only thing that keeps me awake during lectures.
d) Isn't there like...something in the...like constitution or something...like against that?
e) Who cares? We just hang out with OSUdoc at the sports bar and drink all day. (How does he do that?)

If you think hard enough, you can really get creative with the things that you hate about your school. If you can't think of a legitimate complaint, then just lie about it. Heck, it's even better if you've never even been to the school. No one will know. Just call yourself an MS-III and say you don't like XXX school.

If you don't want to use your own school (God forbid that anyone would actually like their own learning institution), just jump on the bandwagon with everyone else who is bashing a random school. Start your post with something like, "I know absolutely nothing about XXX school and have never been there, but I hate it because..."

Even better would be if you make up some uber-low statistics and claim that you have seen them in person, like the average MCAT, GPA, and board scores. Remember that the lower and more ridiculous the scores seem to be, the more likely they are to be believed by sophomore pre-meds in Iowa. Then, make up another user name and jump on the bandwagon again.

Remember that SDN is a fun place to be. Use your time here wisely 🙂

Well mine is very very costly. I'm talking > $40,000 a year. And that just makes me feel bad.

March Madness Day 1:

I spent 6 hours at a sports bar, where I:

-Did 150 pathology practice questions for my exam next Monday
-Ate 2 bowls of chips & salsa
-Ate a Taco Salad
-Drank 4 glasses of tea
-Drank 2 bottles of beer
-Watched several great close games, including a double overtime game

Now begins March Madness Day 2.....

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Honestly, besides the frequency of exams, I have nothing bad to say about my school

Hahhahahah, holy ****. This is great. You are 100% correct but I think it is just you and I who are sickened by the idiots that bash these schools. Hell, the moderators will shut down Ross V.S. D.O. treads faster than you can click on the link to read them but, I hate XXX school, that thread will last for, ****, nine pages? I wonder if we bash a school a moderator attends?? Let's try.

Ignore my signature, ignore all my previous postings; this is the truth 🙄 .

I am a MS16 at UMDNJ and I hate it. I don't know much about the attendance policy but, it sucks anyways. Do not go there, the teachers are horrible, they make you learn the information for yourself! Can you imagine that you have to actually take the COMLEX on your own?! There are no ****ING word banks!!! I came to UMDNJ so I could be spoon fed the information and I am not getting it. You know whats worse? They expect that if I want to learn something I actually have to study the notes. **** that, I want the teachers to sit down in front of me nightly and repeat the lectures. I hate UMDNJ because it is in New Jersey and they have traffic, snow, rain, hail and wind. The school just isn't big enough for me. Would you believe that I have to WALK to my car after I am done with classes?! The teachers should carry me, on their shoulders. I HATE UMDNJ, DON'T ATTEND. Remember, I am a MS300.

You forgot one.

I hate my school because the interior decorating :

1)Combines blue and purple (NYCOM)
2)Uses clown themes (LECOM-B)
3)Has uncomfortable seating (AZCOM)
4)Is too "clean" (LECOM-B)

Wait!!

There was a huge argument over this one awhile back

5) Far too old (NYCOM)
6) They only have TV's (NYCOM)

You know, when I was at LECOM-B, I forgot to look at the decor. If I had known there were clowns, I might not have given them my $1500. Do you think I can get that back?

Yeah, I too wasted my time talking to students and asking questions about rotations and curriculum. Wish I had focused on the important stuff like what was on the walls. 🙄 I guess now we're stuck in clown hell!

Oh well, at least the cafeteria has good sandwiches. That vital fact should convince at least a few students to join us.

Right-we get your point. But in making our decision on what path/school to attend-talking about the positive and negative aspects of each path/school is the whole reason for the existence of SDN. The mods shut down the DO vs MD threads because (or when) they degenerate into useless inflammatory competetion. They don't shut down threads that stay relatively polite and informative. But you aren't dealing with supreme court judges when you complain about 'mods', for christ sake-so don't expect that level of 'fairness'. (Not to mention that they get paid with cyber peanuts). The thread on LECOM may not have been to your liking, but it provided some true, some false information (like all threads) and there were MANY posts that stated they found it useful to read (and many that found it very upsetting). But, like it or not, a lot of people don't want to attend a school with 'certain' policies, and SDN is one media to get that information out. I'm sure you wouldn't want to censor the truth, would you??

A side point: don't you think you should post this in the Osteopathic forum? I mean, this is the pre-DO forum-you haven't even started medical school yet. How can you bitch about a school that you haven't started attending?

Just FYI-there are several threads in the allopathic forum dedicated to people bitching about their schools. I think you might get better results if you posted in a medical school forum.

Well, obviously. And mayo is only available on wednesdays when they serve pizza.

Ummmmm...I'm what you'd call a pre-DO. This is the "pre-DO" forum, so that's where I like to post. OK, I post in all threads, but who cares? I would, however, like to congratulate you for being the first person to actually take this thread seriously.

I would invite you to enlighten us more on the horrors of med schools as told by unreliable sources with agendas. If you really believe anything you have read on the "don't go to XXX school" threads then I feel quite sorry for you. You have absolutely no idea where and who these opinions are coming from, yet you rely on them as gospel. Do you even know if they have ever been to the schools they have been talking about? If you say "Yes", then I know that you are lying.

Do you really know where those "many" posts that found it informative came from?

If people don't want to attend a certain school because of its policies, then that's fine. I won't attend DMU because the weather sucks really big time!!!!! The school might be fine, but I get to make up my own mind and I'm not stupid enough to be influenced by sources that I cannot validate! How in hell can you actually put any credence whatsoever in sources that you cannot validate? You don't know why any of the people that are posting on here are doing it. Are you gullible enough to actually believe it? Didn't you know that there is a disclaimer on all posts? "This post is here strictly for the entertainment of all posters and cannot be believed under any circumstances." Didn't you read that on page one? Where is OSUdoc and why is he the only one that gets to go to the sports bar and drink all day? Ohhhhhhhh, the humanity!!!!

And I could equally congratulate you on being the first one to not recognize the facetiousness of my thread. There was another, equally bright person making the same brilliant observation close on your tail. But not close enough to be worthy of first prize.

Dude, get over it. Aren't there other things in life more worthy of being upset over? Who cares if someone is bashing LECOM. I just think its funny-you are like a pitbull-once you get a grip, you can't let go. I just wonder why, if you didn't like the LECOM thread-why post a new thread specifically mentioning it? To get everybody talking about it again? Well, congratulations (for the second time).

Actually, going to the bar might do you some good. At least you could forget about your anger for a couple of hours. 😀

But hey, go ahead and keep it all bottled up inside if it makes you happy.

As much as I have to appreciate pity coming from someone who is still angry over such a trivial issue-let me reassure you that your concerns are unfounded. Truthfully, just learning about all the rules of LECOM from their website was enough for me to know that it wasn't the right environment for me. I just find it interesting to read about SteelCity's experience there. They are the posts of someone who did not research their school enough before deciding to attend there. If you are the type of person who likes to dress up every day and go to class every day-then you'd probably be fine there. But me, I hate going to class with a passion, and I would prefer to study at home in comfort than wear dress clothes every day. When I read the LECOM website I just noticed that they had a lot of rules (way more than at my school) and they seemed concerned about things that a lot of other schools aren't concerned with. I'm a big girl. I know how to dress nicely and look professional (we all had to do it for our medical school interviews). That doesn't mean I want to do it every day.

That being said, there are people at my school who dress professionally everyday, who attend class everyday. I seriously doubt they would have any problem whatsoever attending LECOM. I doubt they would even notice all the rules. Some people like more structure than others. The key is to know yourself, and know the school.

But you, my friend, really need to get over this whole issue-for your own well-being if for nothing else. 😱

Umm, the moderators shut down posts like they went out of style dude. I think scpod and I have touched upon that, if you dont believe me read the LECOM bashing post again. There is no reason for such a post as that, it solves nothing. Douche bags like steel_mother****er post I hate LECOM and I am a MS2000 and idiots believe him. What is worse is that all of his reasons are proven wrong over and over again by people who attend the school and he continues to say "I am right". I am all for free speech but, I am also all for closing threads that have proven to be going no where.

I never said that I didn't like the LECOM thread or the NYCOM thread (which you failed to mention). In fact, I have a really good time reading those threads. I'm never going anywhere near NY or Erie (if I can help it-- way too cold for me), but I can get a lot of enjoyment out of people bashing the places where they go to school.

I also get a lot of enjoyment out of the fact that you can take salt out of an item and charge more for it. What do they do with that extra salt then? I enjoy the fact that only one casino in Las Vegas sells Guiness stout. I'll bet that there were a lot of pissed off Irishmen in Vegas yesterday when they found that out! I enjoy the fact that so many other people know my own motivations better than I do. BTW, what am I planning on eating for breakfast this morning? Yesterday I had four packs of sugar substitute and a peanut. But...you probably already knew that, didn't you?

Please refrain from personal attacks and implying foul language. This thread is intended for comedy but if it degenerates into a flame war it will be closed.

Aye, it was Irish day yesterday foul language is the means of communication. But, also, thanks for supporting what I said.

You do also realize that the thread this one pokes fun has has been reduced to nothing but personal attacks? Just a few days ago the op insulted someone who defended the school by saying they used a run-on sentence. If that is not a red herring being dragged through the woods, I don't know what is. Due to the fact that is an incorrect argument (i.e., they are using a personal attack to go after them instead of actually using intelligent words to put together an intelligent sentence) I believe that translates to flame war. This is only one example, however.

Sorry, I guess I'm just not as obsessed about it as you are.

Hey, I just call a spade a spade. I can't tell what you ate for breakfast, but when you post over and over again complaining in the LECOM thread, then start a thread mentioning the LECOM thread, it paints a picture that you got upset over it and aren't letting it go, don't you think??

but hey-I'll tell you something I hate about my school if it will make you feel better. Our immunology class sucked. I didn't learn a thing. And another thing; some of our anatomy bodies looked more like mummies than cadavers.

But we have online lectures (best thing in the world, imo)!

Looking at the flame wars are FUN!!! Its like driving by the scene of a gruesome accident on your way to drink with OSUdoc at the sports bar all day (how does he do that?), you have to slow down to watch.

"Fourth: Hey, you ever go camping with Brasky?

Third: Many times.

First: I went camping with Brasky, his wife, and his daughter Debbie!

Third: Debbie Brasky?

First: Debbie Brasky. She's 7-years-old, goes about 3'5", 55 pounds. So, I'm in the back of a pickup with Bill Brasky and a live deer! Well, Brasky, he grabs the deer by the antlers, looks at it and says, "I'm Bill Brasky! Say it!" Then he squeezes the deer in such a way that a sound comes out of its mouth - "Billbrasky!" It wasn't exactly it, but it was pretty good for a deer!

Third: That's Bill Brasky!"

I'll have to admit one thing about you. You're better at taking things out of context than a conservative, Southern Baptist evangelist. No matter how many times I say that this thread is about much more than the LECOM or NYCOM (which you conveniently left out again) threads, you keep bringing it back to the same old place. I mentioned it once, in the first post, in the middle of a humorous statement, along with mentioning another thread. If you'll recall, I spent a lot more time talking about going with OSUdoc to the sports bar to drink all day (how does he do that?)

I'll have to say "thanks," because without you, many of us would be happily enjoying this thread without having to worry about other ones. I enjoy controversy. That's what this is about-- a good, old-fashioned, humor-filled attempt at showing just how ridiculous it can sometimes be. Try to get into the spirit a little.

Man.....I think I had too much Guinness yesterday while studying Endocrine pathology......

   I didn't 'conveniently' leave out anything, unless by 'convenient' you mean its easier not to type a response to an illogical and meaningless comment.

I'm sorry that you're not getting a kick out of this thread, because I sure am!

I have never before been compared to a conservative Southern Baptist Evangelist before! Too funny. I guess you were trying to insult me, and I suppose it might have had a chance to hurt my feelings if it hadn't been so ridiculously offmark. Thanks for making my day, scpod. That really tickled me pink. 😀

Actually, I wasn't trying to insult you at all. However, you seem to have a problem with reading my posts and understanding what I was trying to say. Was the VR section of the MCAT really hard on you-- you know, the part where you have to read a passage and understand what the writer was trying to say? I'll bet it was hard. Perhaps you should ask for some help at the MCAT Forum.

Now THAT is what I would have said if I was attempting to insult you. Since, however, I did not say that, then I wasn't trying to insult you. The part about the Southern Baptist evangelist wasn't an insult either. A recent study in Religion Today shows that 9 out of 10 people have a best friend who is a Southern Baptist evangelist, and the others want one. Personally, I have three.

It used to be four, but one was an Albanian lesbian midget who ran away with the hairy woman when the circus came to town.

My, my, you are a feisty one. The MD school I attend has a much higher average MCAT than LECOM-FL, so you can infer from that that I probably did OK on the verbal section. (how did YOU do? 😀 ) But thanks for your concern! 🙄

Help at the MCAT forum? The next big exam I'll be taking is the USMLE...no verbal section, and even if there was, I wouldn't take your advice seriously.

 Thats because you aren't effective at expressing yourself. Don't fault the reader. 😉

No, you can't. You could easily have made an 8 and still have a good composite score. Of course, you could also have been below your school's average, but I don't know that based on available information. Making that assumption would be foolhardy. Inferences without adequate information are not a good idea for future doctors. My assumptions are based on your own written reactions to material that you read. I'd say that that is a better indicator.

12. I'm one of those people who actually scored much higer than the average at my school. If you are also one of those, then congratualations on your score.

You know, it sure would be nice to get finished with the pissing contest, so that we can get back to the intended purpose of this thread: humor. Of course, there are probably plenty of people reading this thread right now that are laughing at the silly way the two of us are interacting. If so, then I guess the purpose has been fulfilled anyway 🙂

My, how 'convenient' of you! They didn't have a humor section on the VR, so even if I had missed your poorly formed attempt at humor on this thread, I doubt it would have harmed me on the MCAT. However, if they had had a BS section on the VR, I think we can both infer that I would have been able to pick that out pretty quickly, since I had no trouble spotting yours. 😀

12! WOW, impressive peeing there! 'Congratualations' to you, too! (how'd ya do on the writing section? 😛 ) I don't feel the need to tell you my VR score because I don't feel insecure about my choice of school. Not to mention that telling you my VR score would make me look like an idiot (no offense).

One can only hope thats true, because it sure wasn't funny to begin with! Personally I found the LECOM thread to be much more entertaining. Why don't we make one more joke about OSUCOM's drinking and see if that gets a laugh out of people? It didn't work the first 9 times, but hey, maybe the 10th time is the trick, eh? 😀 😛

So, question of the day - why again are you posting on pre-osteopathic forum? 😛

Now, everyone, smurf the smurf up and lets get back the real point of this thread. Someone get steel boy in here to insult another school, that way we can start over again. Where is he anyways? Wonder if he got lost in LECOM. I hear that all those statues make it hard to find your way around anymore 🙄 . Also, the fact that you have to attend class with a guy dressed in a dark suit always standing behind you reading over your emails and class notes, has to make it rather difficult to get on the computer. Anyone ever wonder how he goes to the bathroom? I wonder if the LECOMer in Black holds it for him? LIB, defenders of freedom!!! 👍

We don't even need him for school bashing. Think about it-- Rocky Vista University-COM doesn't even have teachers, students, accreditation, a curriculum, a building or even a well-defined postal address. Yet, there is a whole thread bashing it in the DO forum. Not a single person has ever visited the school (since it only exists on paper), but it's already gotten a bad rep for being "for profit". Yet, I'll bet that there are just as many people who believe it will be the saviour of the DO universe as we know it today. What does that tell you?

I'll give you the answer of the day: because you don't have to be pre-DO to post in this forum. Yes, it may surprise you, but don't limit yourself! I also post in the clinical forums, the pre-MD forums, the Osteo forums and the allo forums!

Besides, I just love you guys too much to stay away. 😍

Its also more fun than drinking at the bar like OSUDOC (how 'does' he do that?).

flame flame Flame FLame FLAme FLAMe FLAME FLAME FLAME!!!!!....c'mon MDs don't treat the whole patient......DOs are just people who can't get into MD school....I need my fix.

First: Well, if you're talking about Bill Brasky, I believe it!

Second: Oh, yeah! He puts me on a ship to Thailand, right? And I'm chained to a pipe. Meanwhile, ol' Brasky, he's back in the States siring three beautiful children with my wife!

First: I hate Bill Brasky.. but I respect him!

Guy At Bar: Are you talking about Bill Brasky? I know Bill Brasky!

First: Then let me buy you a round! "

It tells me that people are sheep who are looking for anyone to lead them around. Much of the bias created over D.O. vs M.D. is because many people are willing to believe anything they read/hear; even if it is unsupported. The simple fact is, people want the easy way out. Why would you ever want to do research and think for yourself when someone can just give you the answer for free? Freewill aint got nothin' on ignorance.

And you will most likely spend much of your life trying to educate them.

Unless you live in Michigan.
