Haven't seen one posted so lets get it started, anyone take it recently, mine is July 1 😱

Edit: This was supposed to be for Step 2 only, but good luck to everyone regardless!

Bump!

Well a classmate of mine is taking it tomorrow, I will hopefully be able to provide and update tomorrow with how her experience was.

Is anyone else taking the COMLEX this week???

ok ill take a jab. lets see....

i think in general what I read before was right--it was mostly IM, peds, and OBGYN. Very little in the way of surgery--little trauma. 10% psych i would guess.

there was a good dose of OMM too--im guessing like 8%--but luckily I only had 2-3 sacral and cranial topics total. most of it was viscerosomatic reflexes.

the medicolegal, medical ethics stuff---yeah it was there and there was some latin, and it was annoying as @#$#.....
there were a lot of questions that I didn't like--pare it down to 2, and then best guess. this test is weird because they have some ridiculously easy questions followed by minutiae, it throws you off
a lot of the test was stuff that you're not going to see in review books
i can't remember much now
for preparation I did all of USMLEworld (69%), usmle secrets, and first aid for the comlex.

Thanks for the reply, and congrats on being done.

Spoke briefly with my classmate who took it today, just to add to what you already posted, she said she had more rads/xrays then she expected (she said she had a textbook pic of a steeples sign, one of osgood schlaugthers (sic).

She felt she had more ER situations then expected, comatose pts, next best step in management etc

She had some EKG interpretation questions, OMM as always (but she said she had less cranial then she thought she would, only 5 or so questions)

lots of medical legal stuff, malpractice lawsuits, something about the FMLA laws (not entirely sure what that is)

Rashes questions for matching, OBGYN hit hard, some optho questions (amarousis fugax, pt with loss of peripheral vision)

again this is second hand info from a friend, I will update with anything else I hear.

she used usmleworld and FA for board prep

I geared almost all of my studying towards the USMLE (which I took on Fri) and then crammed OMM with Savarese in between. I used FA for the USMLE, UWorld (2 complete run throughs - avg 74% on the first one) and Boards and Wards.

The actual exam wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I also thought that it was written better than step 1 (ie, no spelling/grammatical errors). Tons of OB/GYN, peds and IM (my exam was very GI heavy). There also seemed to be a lot of derm questions, especially rashes. The OMM was almost all reflexes, no cranial and maybe 2 sacrum questions. The ethics was as hit and miss as usual, plenty of random latin terms.

Overall, it was fine. I feel like I remembered a bunch of random things from my shelfs during the exam so having done well on those will probably help you. Good luck everyone!

I would say that I knew 65% of the medico legal qs from doing the comquest and combank...

Still a lot of vague questions though. I would say combank and comquest were similar but the comsae was the most similar.

All subjects seemed evenly spread

Took the Exam today. My test broke down about
10% med legal / how to admit pts/ abuse
20% OBGYN
20% peds
5 % psych
5% other (derm opth etc)
5% surg(all kinds)
15-20% omm
20% IM mostly GI followed by neuro then cardio, endo resp

Have to say I am really disappointed in the questions. I thought while step 1 had its flaws it pretty acuratly asked basic science questions and encomased the first 2 yrs of school. I thought this exam failed at that miserablely.
Thought the questions were either Crazy easy or insanily vague. Looking back on it I feel like I could have taken this thing 3 weeks ago and done the same. I felt like I knew solidly 30 questions per block 10-15 I could figure out eventually 5-10 were a true toss up

I go to a school where we were give a month off to study for the boards so the past month I cranked through COMbank 2 time comquest 2 times and 3 of the 4 savarsse tests plus re read most of blueprints peds obgyn and step up to medicine. Ive finished about 20 % usmleWolrd
I guess we'll see how things go but I'm hoping to get around where I got for step I in the Mid 5s

This may have been asked already but did anyone try the COMSAE exams for step 2 (form A,B, or C), experiences compared with the real thing, worth taking them?

I took comsae form a about 8 weeks before i took comlex got a 433 but that was without studying any omm or at all really, pretty much took it to get a base line and figure out where to study Thought it was pretty good examples of questions I would probably have taken more of them if I had the money.

My experience was almost exactly the same...

Several X-rays, EKGs, even some cystoscopy/laproscopy images.
Very GI, OB, Peds Heavy
EM Heavy (OD/COMATOSE/HEAT)
The OMM was more cranial than I expected, but altogether not bad.

Overall, it's hard to gauge since the questions range from really easy to wth??

I used Step up to Step 2, Crush, Comquest, UWORLD.

Pretty sure we had the same form. 🙂

I couldn't believe how much OB/GYN there was...and how many EKG's.

And the bane of my existence...Peds.

Much better written than Step 1, I thought.

Comquest is worth its weight in gold, imo. I couldn't believe how accurate some of the questions were. I'd say there were at least 5 that I got only because I did Comquest.

Congrats guys on being done

1 question: did the question length (in the stem) in COMQuest/COMBank reflect the length of questions on the actual COMLEX? I've found myself finishing with like 30-40 mins left on the banks, and about 1.5 hrs early on the 2 COMSAE's I've taken so far ... I personally wouldnt mind having breaks at the end of each block and taking the entire 8-9 hrs of the exam in the process ...

I didn't use comquest/combank but during the exam, I consistently finished each block early. Unfortunately the exam isn't structured like the USMLE and you don't have the option to take a break at the end of each block. You also don't bank your extra time - no matter how fast you go, you get 10 mins after block 2, 40 mins for lunch after block 4 and another 10 mins after block 6.

I would stick with FA, Saverese, Combank and Comquest question banks. Comquest has extra questions on medical jurisprudence which is good for the test. The test I had was mainly ob/gyn, ethics, gi and some infectious disease. I had very little pediatrics and pharm. A lot more OMM on this test than I had on step I. Overall most of it was straight forward but as the above poster said there are the random questions you wish you had more information so you can answer the question. Now time to prepare for the PE July 9th! Good luck everyone.

...as in, MAINLY how much ethics? I knew there was ethics, but just as much as ob/gyn, gi, etc?

There was a good amount of ethics on my test but definitely not more than your bigger subjects such as OB, GYN. I was surprised there wasn't more pediatrics on my exam. The more questions you do the better.

Took it last week, what a horribly written test.

I was basically numb and just ready to be done with it so have no clue how I felt about what I did. Had a handful of ethics questions, and a few others dealing with healthcare organizations that were a little odd.

Fair amount of OB/GYN, Peds that was expected. And a handful of questions where I just sat there, staring at the screen thinking, WTF! I made use of the comments button a few times so hopefully those comments are not held against me! 😀

I don't know, overall not horrible. I did well on Step 1 so not all that concerned about this one, but it just felt like there was nothing in the last week or two studying that outright helped on this test, that could just be the nature of our perception on these type of things.

Also felt like they went out of their way at times to throw us off by how they worded a question of the answers. Not really sure how to explain it, but just several times was looking for a key word or phrase only to find that they said it in a slightly different, non-standard way, or not in a way I've seen it used acceptably in clinical practice.

Hi nlx30, thanks for the post. what frustrates me the most are these ethics questions that so many people are coming across on the test. Do you remember any specific ones/topics? I am going into derm and need to rip this test apart!!

I know combank has an ethics/legal section that covers a lot of the basics as does First Aid so definitely go over those.

Hey all,

I'm scheduled to take the COMLEX level 2 on weds, july 14th.

I've been doing combank questions but averaging only around 60% correct and freaking out because it says you should score at least 63% to pass.

But a couple of weeks ago I took a COMSAE (form 2b??) and scored 517. When I took the comsae I took it seriously; made sure I had no one bother me and used ear plugs too and took it timed. When I do combank, I don't take these precautions but I do take it timed.

Do you think I should be confident that I'll pass based on my comsae score or do you think I should reschedule based on my low performance on combank?😕

Anyone take COMSAE form 3? I took it today and did well (660,) hoping its accurate obviously, but wondering if maybe its a form that's been giving inflated scores.

I thought about it but haven't.
Maybe for a confidence boost I should

Can't say for sure - all I know is I scored > 500 (decent, nothing special in my eyes but I'd take it) on Form B after doing dismal on Form A. I did Form A to gauge myself right after core and hadn't reviewed anything from the past ... Form B I'd done 2 weeks later.

How'd you do on Form B? If it was close to 600, may not be totally inflated, I dunno.

Do you have the option of striking out answer choices on the actual test? I've been doing COMQuest and it bothers me to no end that I can't strike out choices that I know are wrong to help me narrow it down.

Really? On my COMSAE I could cross out and it said it was identical to the actual exam in terms of software.

To the person that said "nope" did you take COMLEX Step 2 already? Where are you getting your info from? I know on Step 1 we could definitely cross out so I assume it would be the same on Step II. I can't remember if we could highlight in the stem though.

If that's the case then I wish I woulda figured that out but I'm also done with my COMLEX exams and USMLE Step 2 CK and could care less about them now!
