Official Harvard Interview Thread, 2008

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I got a call yesterday and scheduled for Nov. 13th 😱. I live in Boston though so luckily I don't have to make out of town travel plans. I'm always so nervous for these things. Can't wait til this process is finally over!

I was looking through last year's AADSAS Handbook, and it said that Harvard interviwed about 120 people and 53 of them got accepted.

I thought Harvard's class size was about 35. Do you guys know if Harvard decided to increase the class size? If this is not the case, do you think Harvard is going to be more conservative in giving out acceptance letters? I hope that is not the case. 😳

The class size as far as I know is still 35. I think they accepted 53 because not every student they offer admission to will decide to attend to school. So of the 53 accepted, 35 will make up the entering class. Someone correct me if I am wrong though.

indeed, the class size is still 35.

People will always be accepted and decide to attend another school.

I have a question for those who get interview invites and/or accepted if it's not too much of your time. I was wondering what your extracurriculars are? The stats needed to have a shot at Harvard is pretty well documented, but there's not a lot out there on what extracurriculars would be good enough to get an interview.

Do anything that motivates you or inspires you...there's no formula!!

Thats the truth.

Aside from maybe thinking of keeping yourself well rounded for the sake of your own sanity or school applications, it is really all about what you personally like to do. It's like asking what you should eat for dinner. Do whatever will make you happy and do it well.

Harvard talked about the fact that even though they have a class size of 35, they have a very diverse class with people from different backgrounds. You have people that excelled at a variety of different activities whether it be sports, research, volunteering, clubs, etc. as well as being great students.

As for me, I was heavily involved with clubs, research, student government/ senate and programming, on-campus dorm politics, and also art.
