...perhaps in the surgery forumHi guys, kinda new to this forum... this is a long list of cancelled iv's...
where can I find a surgery iv thread? or surgery iv's cancellations?
Thanks a lot 4 the help.
To reply to the earlier question about why people apply to so many (as I did, years ago) -- the NRMP makes it very difficult, and at least technically against the rules, for programs to offer applicants a spot before the match. Since everyone's heard horror stories in this department, the tendency is for people to over-apply. This is especially true since anesthesiology is becoming more and more competitive.
Personally I enjoyed interviewing since it gave me an excuse to see other cities, but if I were heavily in debt I'd have preferred to avoid all the expense. What I think would be a great solution is an equivalent to colleges' early decision: choose only one program and apply there first. It doesn't even have to be binding. If you don't get in, no problem -- you still have the normal match. If you do get in, you save huge amounts of money and time. Since most people have a first choice, wouldn't this be helpful?
But I recently decided that personal relationships in my life are more important than the prestige of the residency program I train at.

LSU Shreveport, for several reasons, not the least of which are less time off than I expected and running out of money.
