Hey Wld! Congrats on your interview too!
My time is 1pm. I'll probably be too nervous to hold a normal conversation before my interview, but we should def look out for each other after! Are you going to the pizza party?

Hey everyone! I just saw people who applied to Mizzou got their interview invites! Congrats! I applied there as well but since I didn't get one, is it safe to assume I already got rejected?
to you
!!!Are you OOS? I know they send IS invites after the OOS invites..
Last years interview invite thread shows all the OOS invites going out the same day. Here's the link:
http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showpost.php?p=12528011&postcount=887
But there is always a chance that this year they are doing things different... And if enough people decline their interview I would think they would invite some more people to interview to fill those places...
This is all speculation, but I hope it helps! Best of![]()

As Iowa interview nears ( being first), I am getting nervous. Abstract questions are like catch 22...I dont know how to prepare really...any tips?
thanks
I remember there being 3 interviewers with them asking a range of open ended questions like "name a time that you had a problem and how your worked to solve it" or "explain a time you had to deal with adversity". I personally found it very hard to prepare to answer these sorts of questions.
I didn't interview at Iowa, but AVC has the same style of open-ended questions. I actually prepared a lot for it- I went through questions that previous interviewees had been asked (here on SDN) and brainstormed fairly thorough answers to those questions- wrote them out on a separate sheet (not brought to the interview) and rehearsed my answers multiple times. It was really nice because most of the questions were those I had prepared for. Moral of the story- you can prepare for these types of interviews and use SDN to see previously asked questions 🙂
good luck, you'll do great 👍IMO going through the questions and knowing what to expect is a really good idea, but I also think that it can cause you to answer their questions as though they have been rehearsed. I ran into this problem during my interview..go over the questions and be prepared, but don't just read the answer off your eyelids during the interview. They want to know how you think on the spot, and they are trained to evaluate you on your performance!! Don't worry about taking time to think of a good answer. The awkward silence is more awkward for you than them! Also, I tend to fill silence with "ummmmm...." so try to avoid that too, haha!good luck, you'll do great 👍
What I did was print off the questions and did a mock interview with my mom the night before each interview. SO HELPFUL. I had only discussed them once, so they weren't canned answers, but I had some idea of what I wanted to talk about with most of the questions they would ask me. I got some hard questions on the interview trail that I knew about in advance because of SDN...definitely use the interview feedback as a resource! Agree with not over-rehearsing. I didn't write anything down, either, but some people may find that helpful.
I recommend having multiple different people help you practice. Try mixing in people you arent extremely comfortable with... Its easy to practice with a boyfriend, sibling, or parent, so ask a professor or DVM you work with. I agree with "that redhead", practicing speaking my answers, rather than writing them down, helped me sound natural and confident. As Iowa interview nears ( being first), I am getting nervous.
