Hello all, I've heard from an anonymous source that Marquette may have sent out another round of acceptances early this week so I've started this thread for those of us who are desperately anticipating good news. COME ON MARQUETTE! FEED ME!...but not a rejection.

Wow! That's funny you say that because just looking at predents, it doesn't look like anyone (so far as we know) has gotten an invite for January or beyond. Brian Trecek did mention to us in our interview that they were significantly cutting down the number of people that they interviewed this year to something like 250 applicants. Good luck!

I called Marquette today (1/17/08) and they told me they are still in the midst of deciding what they are doing for 2nd Round. The person I talked to said that we could hear stuff within possibly the next few days or the early part of next week! So things are still looking GREAT!!!! 😱

i personally talked to brian yesturday (1/16) because he sent me an email informing me that he didnt receive my deposit yet. there was a mixed up but its taken care of.

anyway, back to the topic... he said that they are figuring out whos accepting their acceptances and who arnt so they could send out the second round of acceptances. the bad news: he didnt mention about 2nd round of interviews at all....
also, when i interviewed with marquette in oct., they said that they sent out all the interview invites for this cycle already.

please dont take this as a discouragement...u never know, things could change.

I'm not discouraged at all. The reality is, the less interviews now means I compete less with others, thus increasing my chances of being DrSmiles's study buddy!!! OH MY GOSH!!!! I'M SO SICK OF THIS! What?! That is so jacked! How can they send out all of their interview invites before December yet make no mention of this especially when their application deadline is January 1? I was a late applicant, and it feels so great knowing now that I just basically gave them my money with absolutely zero chance of landing an interview 👎 Is it even legal, let alone ethical for them to do this?

Dont worry man!! I feel ure pain. I applied in august had all the money and stuff in by mid september. But the darn canadian DAT scores held my application up.

Funny thing was when i called the office, i got the impression that they take a few canadians n they know that the scores come in late so they try to keep things open. But now i guess that was just to get money!!

Quick question though. If you were one of the applicants to Marquette that received this the waitlist letter via snail mail, does that inherently mean that you won't be considered for the second round but rather you may be considered at some other time. Just wondering because many of the predent applicants that show "interviewed" did not update to waitlist and I don't know if that is due to them just not updating their profile or if they simply never received the letter. I think I'm getting to paranoid about this but I'm just hoping that as an interviewee that my chances are as good as all other interviewees.

OH MY GASH!!! I must be going crazy. Last night I dreamed that all of my friends were getting accepted in the second round and that I wasn't. Needless to say, I woke up in a cold sweat and all of a sudden I realized that I wasn't in as bad a situation as previously thought (not being rejected...yet).

On another note, I heard last week that we might be hearing back from Marquette sometime early this week. Well, that slowly changed to sometime at the end of this week and then finally to sometime later this week OR EARLIER NEXT WEEK!! What the heck is going on? Just make up your mind for crying out loud! And by "make up your mind" I mean "decide" to accept me not reject me. That would only make my nightmere become a reality...uhhh...I want to throw-up just thinking about it. Hope to hear SOME good news from somebody on this thread come sometime either tomorrow or throughout next week. Cross your fingers guys.

I'm actually married and believe me, without her I'd be in a much worse situation. I'm slowly becoming desensitized to all the stress though 😳.

I would say that there's a high possibility that they will be closed. VCU said that they would be closed so it wouldn't be to far-fetched to assume that many other schools would also be closed. I hope they do accept me though. I've seen several other people with similar stats as mine so I know that I must be close on the list. Anyway, if they do, I guess I'll find out next Thursday or Friday assuming they mail out their acceptances on Tuesday, or Wednesday, or Monday even if they aren't closed. You know I'll be screaming mad on SDN if this happens?!! Uhh, I can't even talk about! Just gotta maintain patience.

She said that they just have to wait and see now how many of those will go there before they create either an alternate list or extend more offers...sad :cry:. It's looking more and more like I won't be your study buddy afterall Smiles.

denticus- congrats on your two acceptances. How would you rate Temple compared to the other schools you interviewed at. 1-7. Compared to marquette and vcu. I'm deciding if i should interview there. Thanks! I actually thought Temple was a good school. On a scale of 1-7, 1 being the greatest, I would probably give Temple a 4-ish. The facilities were a little older then I would have liked them to be and the location was shady but the faculty were very kind and the education seemed pretty solid. It seemed like they really understood what classes a dentist should be taking and concentrating on. That said, they have a high acceptance rate into post-grad specialties so they've got to be doing something right. I feel that I would be pretty competative there. good luck!
