It seems that the curves on the NBME exams have changed a bit over the past few years based on some of the posts I've seen and I'd like to get a more accurate estimate for those taking the exams offline.

If you're able to, could you please post your % correct as well as the score that you got on the NBME exam.

For example:
NBME 13: (150/200) = 75% = 2XX
NBME 15: (190/200) = 95% = 2XX
NBME 16: (120/200) = 60% = 2XX
NBME 17: (185/200) = 92.5% = 2XX
NBME 18: (200/200) = 100% = 2XX
NBME 19: (170/200) = 85% = 2XX

Actual Score: 2XX

You don't need to fill out all of the information, whatever you have now is great and you can always come back and edit it later with new information.

hey did you get the score for the real deal yet?

Hey no I did not. I took my exam June 15th so I still have a bit of waiting to do. I took NBME 18 3 days before and made a 230 on it again so that was my plateau. I got really burnt out towards the end. Overall my testing experience was bad. I'm weak in neuro and pharm and that was literally a quarter of my test was that, maybe more. Not sure how I did but I feel positive I did not come close to a 230

I think 230 on 18 is probably going to get you at least 235 on the real deal — that test was insane as was the curve. Took it within a week of UW2 and my NBME 18 score was 15 points lower than UW. I know it feels bad but you should trust the process and your preparation, it will be okay.

Step 1 timeline
-27d UWSA 1: 251, 610; 123/160
-21d UW Pass 1: 68%
-20d UWSA 2: 254, 620, 133/160
-16d NBME 13: 242, 570, 180/200
-13d NBME 15: 244, 580, 180/200
-10d NBME 16: 242, 570, 177/200
-8d NBME 17: 252, 620, 186/200
-5d NBME 18: 242, 570, 174/200
-3d NBME 19: 252, 620, 187/200
Actual score: 260

Seriously, what is this curve, though? I feel like getting over 90% correct should give you higher than that!

Haha I meant what as in “how did I score this high” because it was like 16 points higher than the previous. As it turns out the real thing I got 252, so I guess it was possible after all

Sorry if this is a stupid question but how do you know how many you got correct/incorrect? I took NBME 19 and when I tried reviewing it, it shows a list of all the different categories and when you click on each one, it shows incorrect and correct answers. So do I have to go through every single question and tally up how many I got wrong? Also, it says sections overlap so I could be counting the same question twice. It seems like it would take forever to have to count every single question.

They’re duplicates. I click male, count those, then click female, count those, and add them together, then add any research article types with no patient.

They’ve changed it around a bit now so I’m not sure if there’s a better way. It used to not show correct answers and let you just see how many incorrect total.

NBME 13: (177/200) = 89% = 238
NBME 15: (176/200) = 88% = 238
NBME 16: (173/200) = 87% = 236
UWSA 1: (120/160) = 75% = 247
NBME 17: (181/200) = 91% = 242
NBME 19: (183/200) = 92% = 244
UWSA 2: (127/160) = 79% = 247
NBME 18: (179/200) = 89% = 250
Hey what’d you end up getting on the real thing? I have scores that are pretty similar to you so I’m curious how your nbmes compared to real deal. Thanks!

Adding a few scores from the new NBMEs!

NBME 20: 24 incorrect, 252
NBME 21: 15 incorrect, 265

Curves on the newer ones definitely seem more generous!

NBME 22: (will update)

Free 120: (will update)

Could you put your raw score on these (number correct/200) as well?

UW first pass 73% (have ~1000+ q’s left)
UW1: 256 (80%)
NBME 20: 238 (80.5%)

84 days till i take CBSE (goal exam since I’m in dental school)
Now that the 20’s NBME’s have been out a while, how predictive are they of CBSE exam? Any idea?
thanks!
