Got rejected by Loma Linda,

I thought I had really strong EC, including 2 year service in the army, and 1 year mission to Rwanda, but of course I am not a seventh day adventist.

Ya, I am a non-denominational Christian and I got rejected quicker than I did at Case. Ohwell...it's all good...I guess.

Rejected : today Maryland dental school , Case and UCSF

very sad and depress 🙁

sorry to hear that..
Maryland via email or smail?? I've been under review for about 2 mo... darn.... actually my status has changed to the stupid waiting for add info. about a mo ago (called them 2wice they told me not to worry about it..) is this the step right before the rejection??

Just got rejected from nova... via aadsas update. After all the money I spent I at least expected an email... 👎

UCSF for me too 🙁
Can't say I wasn't prepared for it, but it still hurts to get the first rejection.
Hop all of us get into atleast one school.

How did they let you know about it. Was it snail mail, email, or through aadsas?

Got another one today from UF, and this was my safeschool. I really dont understand why I cant even get an interview when I graduated cum laude and scored in the 95th and 98.9 percentile in AA and TS respectively. I did do terribly my first two years of undergrad then transferred to another school where I graduated cum laude, but I guess my upward trend means nothing to ADCOMS. Still got a few more schools to hear back from but at this point, I am not expecting an acceptance or even an interview this round. Looks like either a masters or foreign dental school. Leaning more towards foreign.

I think it is a combination of your GPA with your PAT and Quant scores. If you still can, I would highly suggest adding Midwestern if all you want to do is go to dental school. They interview a ton of candidates it seems like over half of them and if you wow them there you may have a shot.

Got rejected from Ohio State yesterday...

dude...if your Predents is correct, you have a 2.7 GPA.

Just keep in mind that if you go to a foreign DS, to be licensed to practice in the US you still have to come back and take 2-3 years at a US school.

It was through snail mail.
Do't think you should be worried though with your amazing stats!!
Good Luck!

Ohio State on Friday🙁. I figured I would be rejected from them when all the out of state interviews were gone. Doesn't make it any easier. Oh well, I've had 3 interviews so far. I'm still in the game.

Marquette, Iowa (same day) & Nova. Talk about self esteem melt down. Well, 4 more schools still at stake...

How did you hear from Marquette? I'm thinking that I should be expecting a rejection from there soon... Good luck with your 4 other schools!!

The dude is wondering why he is getting the boot from some schools, how is he considering a safety school w/ a 2.7? You got to be realistic, nice reply too, as armorshell stated, what you gonna say to back that up when it'll come back? As much as you don't want to hear it a 2.7 won't make the cut unless you do post work and if you have, then I apologize in advance

let's keep it civil. try to remember that rejection can be a very difficult experience for many people. Egging someone on who is venting about a rejection is no better than trolling, in my opinion.

Hey Curry, how is loma linda treating you? I hope all is well with you

Agreed! Common guys, let's let people vent. Sometimes I think SDN represents the cream of the crop, not because of the dedication and drive but because sometimes people with lower stats feel intimidated and embarrassed.

While my GPA is nothing to write home about, I'm not one to be intimidated or embarrassed...(I am actually pretty proud of myself for doing the best I could with an infant son and a husband and just a lot going on)..... so there are some of us out there that don't mind laying their stats out there, but I fear too many people in need of support and guidance are turned away.

It also may lead us to think that the norm is WAY above what the actual norm is.... I know that when I took my DATs I felt like my scores were only kind of ok, because it seemed like everyone with 24+ were posting away.

So lets make this a more welcoming enviroment! If someone wants advice, lets give it in a more constructive way, and if someone is just venting about a rejection... let's just be understanding.

The road to dental school is not always easy and we all have to find our own way there 🙂

Nicely put Daydream...

Also, Lemon can you make this thread a sticky? I am tired of having to dig it every time I get rejected...

Just curious...

I have a feeling that UCSF is making their final decisions soon. According to predents, some people already have interviews scheduled for late January.

not sure if making a "rejection" thread sticky is really such a great PR move 🙂

denticus, LLU is keeping me busy, but it is good. what about you?

UCSF for me too 🙁

Don't feel too down. Just browsing your stats, I think you had a pretty good chance! Keep your head up!!!

2 rejections in one day...Penn and UNLV...cant lie and say I didnt see Penn comming

Thanks for the encouragement... I just want one acceptance.

I want to be here in SF becuase my husband works in the Bay area. Will have to live apart for 4 years 🙁 if UoP also rejects me which seems a likely possibility since my status say, 'Re-review in December'.

Going good so far (challenging though). Virginia is beautiful, although I'm sure you could say the same living in California. Good luck with everything!

got my first rejection today..Case - found out through aadsas.. just a plain blunt "Received/Application Denied"

Penn on Monday. Nicest rejection letter in the entire world.

Agreed. It almost made me feel good about myself, haha. But then I realized the intent of the letter...🙁 --> 🙂 --😡

got another big fatty rejection this weekend from midwestern. i guess scoring in the 95th percentile on the DAT doesnt mean anything. looks like i might be reapplying next year or jumping off of a bridge, havent decided yet.

How did you get notified of Midwestern rejection? I haven't heard anything from them.

Mind giving us a little glimpse of it?

Dear xxxxx,

I regret to inform you that we are unale to invite you to interview at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Although the Admissions Selections Committee was impressed with your credentials, an invitation to interview often depends on such factors as intellectual interest, extracurricular activities, community service, academic achievement, predental experience, or academic preparation in the biological sciences.

The decision of the Admissions Selection Committee in no way reflects on you as a person, on you as a student, or on your school. Our decision is not a denial of your motivation or potential to become a dentist, but more truly reflects the extrteme competition and increased quality of the applicant pool this year. May we remind you that no one has yet perfected the art of human assessment and that you can prove by your own achievements in the years ahead how very shortsighted our Committee was by not selecting you to intervew for our program.

The Dean and the Faculty appreciate your interest in our program. On behalf of the Committee, I wish you success in your future endeavors.

Sincerely,
Corky Cacas
Director of Admissions

UCSF...thru AADSAS😡

I like that letter from Penn. ITs like there daring you to be successful and then go to philly and rub it in their face
