Haha I think this is a good idea...all the amazing applicants on SDN can be discouraging for some people, so it will be nice to be able to see that everyone gets rejected from somewhere! 😛
 
😀 last year I started same thread with few rejections in my pocket 😀. I hope I am not going to have any posts here for this cycle 🙄
IMO, this thread is not discouraging. many people posted last year in the same thread will start their Dental school in coming fall, including my buddy “harrygt” with his crazy stats. Good luck 👍
 
how about including the reason why you think/know you might have been rejected? then it will give others an idea of what schools this cycle are looking for. or if you will be receiving the small envelope instead of the big envelope soon 😉

How do you guys find out the reason for rejection? I got rejected from UMDNJ but can only assume it's because of my subpar GPA.

Sorry to hijack this, but what do most people do when they are not accepted to any dental schools? Re-take courses to raise their GPA? Take the DAT again?

many of adcoms will be happy to discuss your app with you and point out your weaknesses. It could be different reasons, numbers are often the ones that got you rejected. Also any thoughtful applicant that has been through the process once has a pretty good idea what did not work out and where the need for improvement is. Some people go for advanced degree, some just take several higher level classes to prove they can handle it well, some get a job as dental assistant to pick up on experience and commitment to dentistry, some take courses how to interview well ....🙂

customx, the above stuff is all good. In addition though,you may have to retake the DAT and get some volunteering in especially dental related. I wouldn't retake classes unless it is a low C (or worse). I think that it is more beneficial to just take an upper level course in the same area to show that you can handle the challenging classes and the bad grade was sorta of fluke.

That sucks man. Sounds like you are doing well in your post bacc classes. Your DAT looks solid. Just keep working hard. It seems like you are doing the right things. I know what you mean though, it's hard to bring the GPA up. Just b/c you received a rejection or two, don't presuppose rejection from the rest. Good luck

I think applicants are much more well rounded this year. Last year by this time official rejection thread broke over 300 posts! good luck everybody!
