I was rejected post interview from DMU because of my MCAT. :cry: I really don't know what I'm going to do . . . I'm really embarrassed. I think I'm gonna take a break from SDN for a while.

Oh prions. 🙁 I'm so sorry! I don't think it's right for them to waitlist/reject someone based on info they had prior to granting the interview. They must not realize what they're missing out on. Even if you don't come on very much feel free to PM me anytime. You still have DCOM coming up right? :luck:
 
Prions, I'm going to need you to stop with the negative waves right now. Think beautiful thoughts about how you're going to go own your next interview.

DMU seems a little more numbers-hungry than a lot of DO schools anyway, so it may have been a longshot for you. But at the same time, you got an interview, so there was something on your application that made them willing to initially look past the MCAT. So you've got that going for you, and another interview to show what a badass you are.

Hang in there Prions! Dry your tears and get back up on the horse. I feel like that sometimes too, but like Texas says, you have to stay positive.
 
Yeah, you're right TT, I needed to hear that . . . I was starting to feel waaaay too sorry for myself. 😉 I'm just so damn sensitive and I take it personally . . . I'm such a damn pisces!!!

I'm going to concentrate on my upcoming interview at LMU and kick some ass, but I think I also need to start studying for the MCAT again, just in case I need to reapply next year (not trying to be negative, just realistic).

That is just absolutely obnoxious and inconsiderate of their admissions department (and btw, that statment from them is a flatout lie). If they already knew you didn't meet their MCAT cutoff, why the F would they make you go through all the trouble of flying out to their campus and going through the motions of an interview?

You know what... screw 'em. You deserve better than that and now you can prove it by getting accepted to another program. I would staple that rejection letter to my computer monitor and use it as motivation to rock boards several years down the line. Make DMU eat their words.

Terpskins, that's exactly how I feel. 🙄 They knew what my MCAT was from the get go. DMU seems pretty harsh this year . . . lots of people have been rejected and waitlisted post interview. Thanks for your encouragement. LMU here I come!

Try not to take this personal. Sometimes it just takes a little bit longer to reach the goal. It sounds as if you are working on plan B which is great as a backup if need be. Remember this is a marathon and not a sprint so "Stay on target".

I guess I can be finally added to the following schools as rejection: LECOM-B, NOVA, VCOM, LMU, KCUMB, waitlist at LECOM-E. Prions... it seems like you and I are getting the shaft

i am also on deferred at WVSOM. i assume that it has to do with the fact that i'm not from WV and they play in-state favorites (I don't think this is a flat-out rejection, but a hold of sorts). I'm not too worried as I'd rather be at Nova than WVSOM anyway. Would be interesting to know what deferred does mean, though.

Deferred is not a rejection. Nor is a waitlist. I don't know why everyone is putting themselves on this list for waitlists, holds, and deferrals. In all likelihood, most of them will turn into rejections, but why resign yourself to that outcome before it's necessary? Just my opinion.

I don't think that there's any possible way you will get a look from anyone until your MCAT scores are in. It is also possible that God is punishing you for not applying to GA-PCOM.

opps, I did apply there just forgot to mention it, I think I must be so intimidated by the greatness of GA-PCOM and the magnificence of the students I would be going to school with that I blanked it out of my mind because the rejection would be too crushing

Well mainly I think it's because there's no thread for waitlists/holds pre-interview as far as I know. I'm definitely not considering those as rejections. I am on the pre-interview waitlist at AZCOM and I'm going to fight like heck to get an interview there. Trust me, I will not let this cycle take me down without a fight.

I think that even just a few points higher on the MCAT makes a huge difference. I didn't tell any schools I plan on retaking and that's the risk I took so I wouldn't be put on hold until the end of February.

actually it was bigger but somehow one of the older ones got quoted instead of the most recent. Of course I also think a lot of people just don't want to add theirs or don't think waitlists should be put here either.

thanks, im trying, but ive been applying to grad programs in the meantime in case i dont get in this yr. so im keeping a little busy, but im just kind of sick of the whole waiting game at this point haha. ive written a letter to temple, but not meharry yet. congrats with dcom. how excited you must be!
 
This thread coded a long time ago, and I do not believe anything can be done to save it. Pupils are dilated and unresponsive.
