Hi, I was wondering if anybody has actually received an interview invite letter from UCLA (or if everybody has only seen it on the status page.) If so, what dates are they giving interviews. Do they give you options or a set date?

I was just looking @ the # of interviews sdners have received @ each school on the list. Does anyone know what would be a close to accurate estimate of the actual total # of interviews at a particular school so far?

i. e. @ 20 sdners have been offered interviews so far @ NYMC, what would you multiply that # by in order to get an idea @ how many total interviews NYMC has offered so far.

When you hear of folks posting interviews everyday, it sounds like so many, but then when you actually look @ the list, most schools have given out less than a dozen interviews to sdners. Many schools are only starting. As an aug mcater, it's been reassuring to realize that. Please feel free to correct me if this is a false sense of reassurance.

hi..
my status page said the interview was requested 9/27, but i hadn't checked it in a while, so i was surprised when I got the letter from UCLA 10/1...
they basically make you fill out a form.. w/ dates that you are available and dates you definitely cannot do..
they interview all five days of the week...
but they don't give you any idea of what days are filled... i tried calling to ask, but the lady was mean... she said "we don't deal w/ interview scheduling on the phone."

Well, we'd have to know what percentage of total applicants SDNers make up. Hmmmmmm.......I think I'll let mpp work that out. 🙂 But seriously, you're right. It's very early, and if as an August MCATer your files will be complete the minute your scores hit them, then you should be fine (OK, at a little bit of a disadvantage from the really early applicants, but not that bad). I did fine as an August MCATer last year, and I also had to fight a legal battle just to get AMCAS to verify my app and get my scores to the schools in a timely manner! It did provide a distraction, if a somewhat nerve-wracking one, from the waiting! 😀

Thanks, SMW. One of Lee Burnett's posts mentioned that after 3 years, there are now @ 16,000 sdn members. So maybe over 5,000 members who are in this year's app cycle? Hard to say. That would make us @ 15-20% of total apps (35,000)??

Seems as though sdn's growth has accelerated recently. Also, we ARE an overachieving bunch--so these factors may also affect the interview #'s??

Well, I'd just like to say that this thread has been the source of a lot of information and enjoyment for me, and I hope it doesn't die. Obviously, I'm not the first one to receive a Columbia interview. Some people have suggested that only new interviews should be posted here at this point but since:

a) I like posting my interviews in this thread,
b) I like knowing about all the interviews that people are getting from different schools, not just the first ones,

and

c) I've never been good at following orders with which I don't agree,

hey,

if someone has some free time, it'd be cool if u could just merge my A-S, T-Z list into this one (it's a bit more evenly divided than the A-M, N-Z list). i'll delete the other two lists to lessen the amount of clutter.

ok, I'll do it. I think only Mods can do that.

What do you think about closing this thread (since it's maxed) and starting a whole NEW one titled "Official Schools Requesting List: Part II." And merging those two A-S and T-Z together to put into this new list?

I can do that if you want. I just dont' want to abuse my Mod status so I am asking for your approval.

ok nevermind. I am just going to take the initiative and merge em together. If any of you don't like it, PM me and I'll see what I can do to accomodate your concerns.
