hey pre-dents & dents:

i got my scores immediately after taking the DAT back in may. i was wondering if the scores change at all (or if any of you have had experience with your scores changing drastically) after the scores are "verified" by the ADEA. i'm asking because i did have an 18 on the PAT section, and though it's average, it is on the fence, and i don't want it to actually be a 14 while i'm sitting here waiting for interviews.......

any thoughts? this application process is giving me ulcers.

I have never heard of anyone having the scores change much if at all. The only time i have heard was someone last cycle had a 21 but ended with a 22 for their total science. It was word of mouth, so I am not sure if it really did happen. There is no way that it would drop 4 points if at all. You will be fine.

If you're really nervous just spend the extra 30 bucks and get an official score report from ADA. They will send it to you if you pony up the $$. I was similarly skeptical after they delayed my dental scores from reaching AADSAS so I did get the official report and there was no change. I have never heard anyone say their official and unofficial score reports differed.

Good luck with the apps and remain calm...those ulcers are best avoided by any means necessary!

Sometimes they do change...Mine did on my first attempt at the DAT, but did not on the second attempt. An easy way of seeing changes is viewing your holistic application via dental designations on the aadsas site as a PDF. Also don't worry: TS, AA, and PAT never change, individual sections in the sciences, QR, and Reading are subject to change by a point or so, depending on auditing conducted after the test and others past performance. Your PAT will not change.
