Can someone, being as brief as possible, state what is considered early, average, and late to have primaries verified and secondaries completed? Taking into consideration AMCAS will not release primaries to schools until July 1st. I believe this could be a great help to many on the MCAT forum as well.

Well as for early, I"d say anytime in June is early for MD.

What matters is when your app is complete regardless of when you submit primary. So in terms of completion:

Early:July
Average: August
Late: September +

For submitting:

Early: June
Average: July
Late: August

Thanks for the help guys, how about in terms of secondaries however? For those of us taking the mcat we plan on being verified before we get our scores, July 21, where does that put in terms of finishing secondaries, assuming we have them all prewritten? Are we still at average or can this be borderline early?

Do you have a source for the bolded? Has it always been like this? One of my recommendation writers has been running late so this would be great news.

In the past, what was the latest time you could submit your primary and still be verified (and receive secondaries) with the first people?

Is it like a specific time on June 2 (e.g., 3 hours after it opens) or does it extend to like June 4?

You also do not need letters of recommendation until secondaries, so do not be too worried, they should have almost a month

here is last year's verification thread: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/2014-2015-amcas-verification-thread.1074177/page-13

Also - does anyone know if secondaries will be sent out later than in other years because of the new July 1 thing?

It's on the AMCAS website and I think also in the instruction manual they ask you to read.

I didn't look at the verification thread but I remember it was something like June 17th. Keep in mind that this was because AMCAS was super on top of the ball last year - may or may not happen again.

+1

AMCAS verified my app in 3 weeks. I submitted Late July. I heard the year prior had it really bad where some apps took 6-8 weeks. So, you never know.

All I can really say is that all your secondaries should be complete by the end of August. I think many schools must have the 2˚s before offering an interview. How you want to divy up that time before hand is up to you (for example: turning your 1˚ in early to have ample time for your 2˚s vs. turning your 1˚ late and doing your 2˚s fast). Some IS schools seem like they don't really care when their IS residents turn in their apps. For me, those were the apps that I did last (to have more time to work on, and to prioritize more urgent 2˚s).
