Hello, I'm a newbie here and dental school applicant for 2006.
I just have a question about official transcript.
According to instruction on aadsas, the transcript is considered "official", only if the transcript is sent directly from office of registrar to aadsas.
I contacted my school and they told me that they do not provide such services.
Do you guys think that it is ok to order a trancript and have it mailed to my house first. and then send it to aadsas without opening it?
Thanx in advance!

I have a really hard time believing that your school does not mail transcripts directly to AADSAS. 🙄

They actually do that, but since transcript ordering service is computerized, they will not be able to attach transcript matching form with my transcript.
Thank you for your reply, any other thought would be appreciated.

providing transcripts, both official and unofficial, is one of the main functions of the registrar's office. they are ought to mail out your transcripts, at your request, to ANY address that you provide them. Some schools charge a small processing fee, while it is free at most schools.

Well if that's the problem (which isn't what you originally stated) then just send it without the matching form. I didn't use the form and I didn't have any problems.

Along with some of the other posters, I have a hard time believing that your school is incapable of sending official copies of your transcript to anyone other than yourself. How does your school handle requests from other universities seeking transcripts from transfer students? Have you tried to talk to the registrar face to face and put in a request in person (versus online)?

The only problem I see with having a transcript sent to yourself is that often the schools will stamp such copies with the words "released to student" on the document - meaning that the transcript was placed in your hands. Some institutions don't regard such transcripts as official and will discard them.
