Hello--

New to posting--have really enjoyed reading about everyone else. I received an acceptance to Tufts MD program and I'm thrilled beyond thrilled 😀 but also a bit scared about the money issue. I understand loans and interest rates...have done all the research, but at 26 years old, the thought of having to owe $500 K all said and done is really scary. Maybe it's silly--it is medical school. Best of luck to you all and cheers.

500 K?

At the very most, 80 K x 4 years = $320,000. At least those are my figures.

Perhaps the MD program is pricier than the DMD???

anyone started to look for an apartment yet? Cause I am out of country now traveling. so, if anyone started to look for one needs roommate, let me know. I heard that Malden and S. Boston are the places are nice safe and affordable. I already paid 3000 total deposit. Did anyone pay all deposit? And What did you guys get from school? Cause I am out of country, it is hard to contact Gillian. ANyway, I am happy that I will see you guys this fall. Good luck to you.😍

Congratulations for everybody who got an acceptance today. I won't be joining you.😛

sup fellow tufts classmates. was recently accepted and just wanted to know how you guys felt about how the construction would affect our pre-clinical experience? i know the dean said the sim lab would have to be removed. he was never clear on where and when we would get our time in the sim lab. can anyone shed some more light on that issue?

"offer made" today for me and my sis. Tufts is definitely one of my top choices, but its gonna suck living in the home of red sux and patriots. GO GIANTS!!!!!!

Hey, I just got into Tufts as well! By the way, I am so happy that the brother and sister got in at the same time, amazing! 👍

I am looking for a roommate as well. Any one?

I had this same question too. Our tour guide made it seem like they would try to accomodate the students as much as possible. My opinion is that it won't be too bad. After all, we will get brand new levels! 😀

well, the POST GRADUATES get those new levels. not us. but having the extra levels will clear up more space for us dental students on the floors below.

my tourguide wasn't too sure how the simlab situation would turn out either. anyone else remember something about this from their interview?

He said something about using the floor where the current post grad programs are or something. I mean it won't be too bad because the school has a responsibility to train capable dentists so they wouldn't hinder your learning just cause they have renovations. They will always find alternatives -- I'm not sure if they will be better or not but they have something planned.

Ohh man, I'm so excitied! I just got my acceptance today for Tufts!!!!!!!!! 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀

I just got accepted too!!!

just bumping this up because i recall that today Tufts will send out another group of acceptances. i know 2 people waiting for good news today so just wanted to say good luck to all of ya. if you get in let your future classmates know!!......then go join the facebook group 👍

Tufts will be sending out acceptances for people who interviewed in Feb?

I interviewed last week and we were told 7 to 10 days, so today would be about right. Hope so -I keep checking every 20 minutes.

I spoke to one of the Tufts students, he said that he heard next acceptance gives out will be on 19th

Checked AASDAS and "offer made"!!!!! I'm very excited and will be attending in the fall😀

Count me in! Just found out today and I will see all of you in the fall!:hardy:

For those of you who are going to Tufts and are concerned with the closure of the Simulation Clinic, don't worry too much. I'm not sure when it will be back up, but your instruction in the pre-clin should be fine. The sim-clin is used for the operative dentistry course. The main purpose of that class is to develop your fine motor skills, not how well you use your suction (there is no suction, water, or air spray in the pre-clin - we do wish there was, though). It is good to get the feel of being in a real clinic, but it's not a necessity. During a course called Intro to Clinical Experience in the second year, you'll have plenty of chances to be in the clinic with real patients. Even now, we dont have too many opportunities to use the sim clin, anyway, since it is not open for use unless instructors are there. Each student may only get to be in there for 1-1.5 hours per week. Trust me, I would NOT shy away from Tufts because of the sim clin. It's a great school. The education, atmosphere, and the opportunities are well worth it. Personally, I have no regrets picking Tufts. Congratulations to all who got in! I hope to see you there. Shoot me a PM if you have any questions.

does anyone know if we need to collect teeth before the start of school?

You do need to collect teeth before school starts. What will happen with those teeth? Well, in your dental anatomy class, faculty will actually take all of your teeth then take out the most ideal ones and use them for tooth identification labs and practical exams. They will return the ones that they do not use. You will have to keep them because there are other courses that you will need them for (i.e. 2nd year endodontics). So, I would suggest finding a local oral surgeon and have them start collecting teeth for you right away. The more, the better (although, before school starts, they say you only need ~24). Good luck on your collections.
