Official U of T Pharmacy Waitlist Movement '08

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
apple52... again thanks.... ur the only one here helping me keep my head straight.....

just curious.... how much is tuition for this year?

taikwon, don't worry too much. As I said in this or another thread, people are accepted even during Phrosh Week! I understand how anxious you may feel, but why not relax and pursue your hobby to take your mind off things?

I actually think this year's phroshies are more active than previous years. Come talk with us on the UPS (Undergraduate Pharmacy Society) forums!

ups.uoftpharmacy.com/forum

Only current or incoming pharmacy students may register though, it's not to exclude prospective students, but to prevent application questions from flooding the board and to prevent random strangers from harrassing us.

There is also a low turnout on Facebook as well. There is already a group created for class of 2012 but as of now, there are only 115 or so members. This time last year, almost all 240 who were accepted had already joined the group.

I don't know what all that means but I just wanted to point it out.

Some of us dislike facebook, actually. 🙂

I managed to get in after being waitlisted as well, receiving the phone call on July 14th. But as someone who's been rejected twice (not even on the waitlist) by the faculty, I'm going to say to never give up until the very end; miracles do happen from time to time.

Anyways, see you other 1T2'ers at phrosh!

To those of you that got an acceptance from UofT, can you please post the courses you took and your cumulative average in these courses. I'm aware that many changes have been made to the upcoming year's admissions process, most notably the requirement to write the PCAT rather than the UTPAT. However, I still would like to know what the averages are like for people that are getting accepted.

I'm about to start second year sciences, and I'm planning on applying to both UofT and Waterloo. I don't have much volunteer experience in the health-care field. Can anyone recommend places to start volunteering at, in order to satisfy the "experience" requirement for the University of Waterloo.

PS: I'm a student at UWO.
I agree with shunsistoesis. Variety is key; pharmacy experience not required. I jobshadowed nurses, surgeons, OTs, PT's and stuff. I just explained how I understood the various aspects of patient care and where the role of the pharmacist was and how important it is to integrate all disciplines of practice together.

I didn't quite get an acceptance as I was originally on the waitlist, but the approximate average of applicants that were accepted at UofT was around 80%-84% ~ A- .....i'm not sure about the lowest average though, but probably around 75% or an approximate B? but the UTPAT was very important as well! However, since the PCAT will replace the UTPAT in the admissions process, I have little to advise you on that~

PS: I'm also a UWO student 😀

2nd week of August..... any updates anyone? 😳

Nothing here..

Taikwon, are you on the upper or lower half?

upper... but since it looks like so many ppl from the upper half have gotten in, i'm probably thinking i'm on the lower end of the upper half.

August: week 3.

By this time last year, waitlisters were being admitted.

news anyone???

Take a deep breath. People were admitted up until Phrosh Week last year.

Some stats on U of T's Faculty of Pharmacy:

  • "typical" entering average median of 78-80%; one year was 83%
  • lowest average in my year was 71-73% (could be an exceptional case, however)
  • 40% of admitted students have a degree (Bachelor's or higher); the rest (60%) have done anywhere from 1-3 years of undergrad

Don't worry about it too much taikwon, if you get in, you get in 🙂. The time waitlisters were admitted will vary between year, so you can't really judge it like that. Waitlisters are accepted up until phrosh week from what I hear.

naaaaaaahhh i'm not worried....

i'm just curious.... like everyone else

fellow waitlisters,

have some depressing news for you guys.... spoke to Sandra Parna today, she said that if we don't hear from her (via email or phone) by this Friday afternoon (Aug 29th), that we should just stop waiting (officially).

... that's less than 48 hrs from now... but whatever it makes no difference cause ....PCAT here i come.

Congrats again to all who got in, let me know how it goes this year.... cause I'll be there next year no matter what.
