Hey guys, Im just starting a new thread to gather up ppl that are going to UTHSCSA during Fall 2007 to discuss stuff like testing out of Biochem, Finacial Aid, Housing, Laptops, Immunizations, and all sorts of stuff.
Here is what I found out so far:
List of shots:
1. Hepatitis B
2. Tuberculosis
3. Varicella (chicken pox)
4. Diptheria-Tetanus
5. Measles
6. Mumps
7. Rubella
But I do know that the Hep B vaccine needs to be started a few months in advance. There are 3 series of shots you'll need to get for that one. The second is 3 months after the first, and the 3rd is about 2 months after the second. I talked to San An, and they said that all three shots had to be completed by the time school starts. If you've had the series within the last 10 years, you should be ok, so check your records, but you'll need to get an antibody test to prove that you still have resistance. If you havn't started the series yet, I would call the school ASAP and ask them what you'll need to do. Take care! Looking forward to meeting everyone at orientation!
When I entered dental school, I paid out the nose to get properly immunized; however, much to my dismay, the school will offer immunis for really cheap (hep b for $5). So if you can't get it done before school, you definitely won't be the only one - and you might save a few extra bucks if you wait and get immunized
I know that u need 80 or above to test out of biochem but iono if what you test out with will be you grade for that class .so waiting for replies
Good luck everyone!
