ok guys.....sorry to bug everybody again but i am in like full blown panic mode now...i submitted my app around the end of july and i just got my confirmation packet.....and it was way different from what i calulated it to be. so this is how it goes...
major political science (Bio minor) from Illinois Institute of Technology
50 credits from a community college
overall gpa is 3.296
sci gpa is 2.89
BCP gpa is 3.1
i have only one C in orgo I and one F which i got in calculus I in the first semester of college (bombed my sci GPA), the rest of my grades are all As and Bs.
DAT score is 19AA/18 PAT.
for the past two years, my GPA has been close to a 3.5.
i also took two upper level science courses: micro(B), anatomy and physiology(B). I am gona take orgo II and genetics this upcoming semester. I am applying at louisville, temple, creighton, nova, tufts, case western, nyu, bu, uic & siu (chicago resident) i really wanna go to my state schools but obviously i will take an acceptance to any dental school. so i would appreciate it if you guys could give me honest advice regardless it be good or bad regarding what shape i am in to get into anywhere because i seriously think that i am not getting in anywhere with my science GPA.

appreciate all your help and honesty guys and any replies or PMs would be greatly appreciated. at this moment of the app cycle...you dont understand how much each one of your input means to me. thanks once again!

Amir

ps--- i also have extracurriculars and shadowing hours, volunteer hours, community service and solid LORs (i am hoping) from professors and a dentist i shadowed.

come on you guys.....100 views and no suggestions???

Amir

Your likely to get interviews from NYU and BU. As far as the other schools, I am not sure. Just based on what you wrote. I would atleast expect a NYU letter and BU letter. good luck

dude i wouldn't be too worried if i were u..ur overall gpa is avg and ur sci gpa isn't incredibly low..i mean it's the exact same as mine..i'm sure u'll get in somewhere..so really don't sweat it!

ARe you in a race to finish, roll with it this year, if it does'nt work out, apply again. No sense in having an ulcer before you start dental school. Wait till you finish dental school to get an ulcer.

just chill and relax. Your rantings of will i get in makes you look somewhat like a baby. no disrespect, just the tone you give off in your post.

Amir,

I agree with hockeydentist. You should get interviews this go around to schools like BU and NYU. So be confident and ace the interviews. Then decide your plan of attack if you don't get into schools that are your top choices. No matter where you go to school at the end of the day its what you put into it.

Amir - you are not lost nor hopeless. Yes, that F is a bit of a sore spot, but it was during your first semester of your first year. Most of us are/were very young during that first year and mistakes are bound to be made and that point is not lost on adcoms. The years since you have progressed in your education with good grades and that signifies that the distant past is not a reliable indicator of your future performance. 👍 Your DAT scores are comfortably average, and coupled with your extra-curricular activities, shadowing experience, and volunteering, I look for you to get some interviews. This has been echoed in other threads, though I'll repeat it here: put your best foot forward in the interviews and have Amir, the person and future stellar dentist, come through. Doing so will probably earn you that coveted acceptance letter. Best of luck, and by all means, don't ever think of yourself as 'screwed' and have faith in your accomplishments and the direction you are headed.

Amir... you are like running the 100 metres hurdles here, make sure you don't fall down on your way, those stats are border line, and you have got to show more than stats in your application (like EC and research). Like the others suggested, you should be fine if you play your cards right - and by that I mean applying to private schools early (or your state school).

Good Luck.
