I emailed Michigan State College of Human Medicine asking when regular decision applicants who have already interviewed can expect to hear their decision....this is what I received back. (edited for name)

Mossjoh,
The committee has made a decision on your application. We can release that
information to you on October 15. Check your status on the web around noon
that day, or give us a call.

Jay Bryde
Admissions Officer

YIKES!!!!! 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱

HELP!!

Mossjoh

PS- She said to give them a call, is this a good sign? Would an ADCOM really want to reject you over the phone?

the suspense would get to me too! i'll be rooting for ya! 😀 😀 😀

You probably know this , but the reason they replied the way they did is because they can not release acceptances to regular decision applicants before october 15th (AMCAS rule). I think it is likely to be good news.

I feel your pain, Moss. I am also anxiously awaiting making that call on Monday.

I'm hoping that we both get good news. Also, I have heard that news over the phone is usually good. 🙂

Crikey!!! Not nerve-racking or anything!
But I'm betting if that was the response you got you should be in for some good news! Good luck and we'll all be looking forward to congratulate you on Monday.

I'd also be happy to hear about an interview from them anytime now...we'll see.

Yeah, I'm not sure. I'm hesitant to think that she would ask you to call if they were going to give you bad news because that would open them up to a tongue lashing. 🙂
Anyway, I guess we will find out Monday...I had an interview at Indiana U. this past week that didn't go well...I'm expecting a rejection from them. Basically because I have no ties to Indiana and they are pretty harsh on non-residents.

Mossjoh

Moss,
why do you think your Ind. interview did not go well?

I just didn't like format. Two interviewers had me, one asked all the questions, the other just sat there emotionless. Then I was talking about how I have gained a lot of clinical experience in my job, and I mentioned that it was valuable because not a lot of med students have this when they enter and are in the first part of med school. The quiet interviewer spoke up quickly and said, "Well, here at IU, our students are given patient exposure from day one." She said this in a snobby sort of way. She didn't get my point.

There last question was if I had any ties to Indiana, which I really don't except for a friend who goes to IU in Bloomington for grad school. I've lived in Michigan my whole life.

Agghh! That's awful. Sorry that it didn't work out, but don't write it off just yet. The other person may have found you interesting enough to give you a vote! Keep us posted.

Hey Mossjoh...I think it's DEFINATELY an acceptance. The deadline is for acceptances only...don't you think they could tell you that you're rejected before that date?

No, I don't think they give any notification until that date

Wouldn't it be horrible if it was a rejection after you guys are getting me all worked up?

ROFL

Tell you what, Mossjoh. On Monday, I'll show you mine if you show me yours. 😉

Just wanted more thoughts...so
bumpety bump

Moss, I think it's pretty clear that you have an acceptance. No one gives bad news like that over the phone. Unless they're REALLY cruel and enjoy putting themselves in awkward experiences, I think you're all set. Let us know how it goes. I imagine these boards will be a pretty busy place come Monday afternoon.

Good luck, Mossjoh & Jamier2 - I'll be rootin' for you both on Monday as I sit nervously in THE interview...

Maybe if I think about your level of anxiousness, it'll calm me down a bit 🙂

Can't wait to read your posts Monday night!!!

Good luck in your interview, and it's good to hear that our suffering may do someone some good. 😉
