Oh no another azcom vs Lake erie thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
its too snowy in Erie- go to AZ, end of story.

There will be better weather and hotter women in Arizona. I don't know much about Erie, so I really can't say anything specific.

well that may all be true but I am concerned about the large increase in class size and the rotation spots which apparently are hard to come by now and it may get worse with the anticipated class size, not sure if the sun is enough to conquer all that, its a lot of money and I want the best clinical rotations I can get, but the sun sure is niceeeeeeeeeeee, there was snow already in erie when I interviewed.

do you like professional basketball? if so, phoenix has the suns... lake erie has, um, *crickets chirping* hehe.

in all seriousness, go to the one you think is best for you. you don't even have a "feeling" or a "nudge"?

I echo these sentiments. At the very least, LECOM students can opt to rotate at some major allo teaching hospitals where U. Pittsburgh students rotate. With Arizona, they're not even sure what they'll have for rotation sites from year to year! Add to that the class size increase, and I just would not want to deal with that kind of unpredictability.

As much as I think things like dress code/attendance policies are ******ed, I'd say going with LECOM here is a no brainer. Tuition is cheaper, and at least you have the slightest clue of where you can rotate.

How do you know about erie rotations, do you go there?? Do you have any othr info?

Some random pros and cons about both schools:

LECOM: dress code, attendance required
AZCOM: no dress code, no attendance required except labs

LECOM: PBL track and independent/accelerated study track are offered
AZCOM: no alternative tracks, old-fashioned lecture-based curriculum

LECOM: northern climate, winter sports, has spring and fall seasons
AZCOM: desert climate, summer sports year round, 100+ temps in summer and 70 temps in cool season

LECOM: in Erie, access to Buffalo, NYC, Canada. Small city living, with moderate cultural amenities.
AZCOM: In north Glendale, next to Phoenix, 6 hrs from LA and San Diego. Big city living, with many cultural amenities, fastest growing city in the country.

LECOM: in an area with a low cost of living
AZCOM: low-ish cost of living, but rising (houses have doubled in price since '03)

LECOM: $26K
AZCOM: $41K

LECOM: teaches the medical science needed to pass COMLEX 1, 2
AZCOM: teaches the medical science needed to pass COMLEX 1, 2

LECOM: confers D.O. degree
AZCOM: confers D.O. degree

good luck!

Are you sure you didn't mean hotter weather and better women?

I asked students that were attending LECOM, which is how I found out about rotations.
