I have some answers about the 4th year increase in COA.

This is copied and pasted directly from Jane Woodland's email to me:

The 4th year students attend 4 quarters (Su,Au,Wi,Sp) instead of the 3 quarters as do the the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year VME students who attend only Au,Wi,Sp.

Therefore, they need extra funds for Summer tuition and Summer living expenses.

Tuition for this current Summer will be 8627 for full time. However, tuition will change again in the Fall. We do not have the new tuition figures yet, but it will increase.

She said they will know the new tuition on April 1st and we can email her to find out what it is.
 
Get used to it. Tuition increases every year, and I do mean every single year. It's depressing. Although I doubt this is only at OSU.

Thanks, I'm aware of that, and have been expecting it. My frown icon was actually for the fact that OSU charges that extra 9k in tuition for summer quarter, whereas the other school I'm considering doesn't.

Huh. I didn't know that. I know most vet schools have students in clinical rotations in the summer between third and fourth year. I always assumed they charged tuition for it as well.

Yeah, it was kinda a bummer to find out that OSU does. I have not looked into any other schools other than OSU and Illinois. So, I can only speak for Illinois as far as not charging increased tuition for that summer.

Anyway, Squibby, I'm psyched that it includes domestic partnerships too-when Karmapple mentioned the C-3 residency I was afraid to burst your bubble and tell you that good ol' Ohio is a red state now 😉 Where did you read that it's for domestic partners (and does "domestic partners" include same-sex couples)? Not that it matters for me but I'm curious as to how all this works. It gets messy when you get the same
 
Crap. Sorry people, I was wrong. The SCHOOL recognizes domestic partnerships, so our sig. others could get health insurance, but the STATE doesn't (BAD Ohio), so we can't use our domestic partners for financial aid or residency stuff.

So squibby, is that another check against Ohio?

I was afraid of that, but not surprised. I figured if they require a marriage license, well.... 🙁

Well, Ohio AND Illinois just got their names written on the board for misbehavior in regards to covering domestic partnerships for residency purposes.

Suibby, when are you and wifey coming to C-bus? I want to make sure I'm here. You asked yesterday when my spring break was but I will be gone for at least the first half of it. Though I don't know if that's when you were planning to come. Let me know.

For me, adulthood (well, my mid 30s) has come with feelings of responsibility that have caused me lose some of my carefree attitude. I used to be able to just pick up and go without a second thought; and now I find myself hanging on the the 'what ifs' more than I ever thought I would.

And I know this may not be too helpful, but EllieG, if for some reason I do make it out there, I will be happy to roll your bubble on days when no one else is available. A backup bubble driver so to speak.

Adulthood has made me more cynical and ballsy.

My nickname at work is Helga because I'm strong like bull...I can fill in when needed to push around EllieG's bubble😀
 
I might need to add some sort of light filtering device to the outside of it. See my post in the "Rant" thread.

And for the record, it wasn't my bubble that was drawing all that attention, it was my beautiful face. They'd have had to remove me from the event whether I was in my bubble or not.

I have officially decided to go to OSU!!!!!! It's such a relief to finally be done with all the admissions shenanigans! I can't wait to meet everyone this fall! Now I just have to figure out where I'm going to live!!!

The next 4 years are going to be EPIC!!!! 😀

Just asked to join! What areas is everyone looking in for places to live? A doctor I work with lived on kettering lane when he went to OSU (over 10 years ago). I looked it up on google maps and it looks like a nice little neighborhood! No idea what rent or availability will be yet though.
 
THAT. IS. AWESOME...especially since I'm really interested in interventional radiology and cardiology! I like gadgets/less pain so minimally invasive makes me smile =)

Met up with some more girls from our class this afternoon! We all went to Applebees. It was super fun. One I've known for a while, two I've had a few classes with, and one I thought I didn't know but turns out we used to show horses together! Super small world. Everyone was lovely-each time I hang out with people from our class it just reaffirms to me how stinkin AWESOME it's going to be!! 😍

And, just for kicks, I think that the 'towels' attached to the surgical table could be fancy leads. Given it's a radiology suite, the multiple pieces would allow docs to cover the parts of the patient that aren't being scanned by the c-arm to reduce the amount of radiation exposure. I could be totally wrong, but it would be totally awesome to have!!!

EllieG - enjoy your break! And I'm sure you won't need it, but if you need some muscle in regard to physics, feel free to give me a yell. 😉

And thanks! At this point the only muscle I'll need is to muscle the prof into giving me a C if I bombed the exam even harder than I thought I did. I guess we'll see :scared:

Got a B- in physics!! The relief has set in, now let spring break begin--knowing that ALL my pre-req's for vet school are DONE and my seat is safe!! 👍
 
Hey everyone! though I'd say hi on here as I have decided to attend Ohio state. I originally planned to go to Murdoch in Australia but was denied a visa due to a pre-existing health condition with my kidneys 🙁 so looks like I'm gonna be a buckeye! I've lived in Los Angeles my whole life and have only been out east maybe like twice to visit grandparents in Indiana. I get cold when it gets under 75 degrees, so come winter I'll be the one walking around looking like an Eskimo 😛
