Can any students tell me about the typical class schedule for the first year? How long do classes run? Do you have labs in the first year? What electives can you take? What are the unique rotations sites the school offers? What are your opinions about the curriculum and the school so far? How has your experience been so far?

I can tell you some about the first year of classes. During your first two quarters you will have a 5 credit Physiology class that is Mon-Fri from 7:30-8:18, with all of the exams being at 7:15am. Also during you fall and winter quarters you will have other various classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with your school day ending around 1 or 3, depending on the day. Your Tuesdays and Thursdays during these two quarters will be relatively short, with just recitations after physio.

During the spring quarter would probably be the best time for electives (the fall and winter quarters are 18 credits, spring is 14), and you only need 10 hours of electives to graduate. This quarter I only have classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (classes going from 8:30 until about 1 or 3), along with an online class.

You also have other commitments in addition to classes though. You will have at least two rotations (30 hours/quarter that you have a rotation), 10 shadowing hours, 20 community service hours, some professional hours, and group geriatric hours.

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah I am so nervous to find out if I've been accepted or not!!!!! Joe said the admissions committee was meeting Wednesday and he would send the e-mails about acceptance out Thursday or Friday...I have had butterflies in my stomach all week. OSU is the only place I applied because it's the only place I want to go. I think my interview went fairly well but it was hard to read my interviewers, they were very matter-of-fact. OMG OMG OMG. I have a midterm tomorrow so I have to stop thinking about this for a while but I can't!!! Anywho I better go try to study but I am really really really hoping to get that magical email tomorrow. Wish me luck 🙂

I got nothing today? Is that bad? Did they send out the acceptances today and that means it's the waitlists/rejects tomorrow? AHHHHHH!!😱😱😱😱

(I know I am looking into this way too much but I am really nervous. Plus I hyped myself up from last week that I would be getting an email today...I was disappointed I didn't get anything today🙁)

I didn't find anything out today either and I couldn't sleep at all last night because I was so anxious!!!! GAAAAAH. Well I guess Joe did say Thursday or Friday so maybe he just hasn't had time to send out the emails yet. I hope so. I don't know why they would send acceptances one day and rejections another...I guess I have another day of TOTAL ANXIETY ahead of me but if I get in it's all worth it.

I found out today that I got waitlisted...of course I am sad that I did not get accepted but I am not giving up hope. I know that last year they took everyone off the waitlist so it just depends what happens with who decides to go to OSU. OSU does not waitlist that many people so it is definitely much better than a rejection. Oh well, now I have five more months to be a nervous wreck! I still really hope to join you guys in the fall 🙂

Honestly I don't know how to take it! It could be just that they are going down the list and did not get to you today or it could be a sign that you are also waitlisted or rejected...I have no idea when anyone else heard so it's really hard to tell...try not to worry too much about it (like I'm one to talk...)

I'm sorry 🙁 But congrats on getting into Iowa and St. John Fisher. You are going to be a pharmacist!!! Which is the main thing after all. Thanks for the wishes 🙂 Have you decided where you want to go yet?

Right now I'm planning to go to Iowa (though there's still the pesky issue of waitlists)
I really hope you get in. I only applied to two places last year (and one a few years ago) so I understand how nervewracking it is only applying to one school.
