One of the good things I heard about Wags is that they will pay you to take the Kaplan course to help make sure you pass the boards. The value of this is over $1,000. I was wondering how much interns at wags make?

I know picking an internship is more than just $$$. I am also considering the fact that I like my current pharmacy manager and I could not ask for any better flexibility with my schedule.

Also wondering about education assistance programs as an intern? I know Giant Eagle gives up to $2,000 per year for A/B grade averages and $1,000 for C average. Anyone know how the other pharmacies help out students?

Hey guys, since you guys were talking about many stuff and my ad is long gone from the first page. Thus, I am going to have to reiterate my ad once again.

I am looking for two roommates to live with. I have a three bed house in 3 mile(7-8min) from Parks Hall. Very convenient and safe area to stay in!!! Also it is also close to golf course, shopping center, and you name it. If anyone is interested in becoming my roommate, shoot me a private message, please.

I just received my acceptance email from Joe! I am so happy to be accepted to my top choice, an amazing feeling! I interviewed last Friday by the way.

Out of state tuition&fees: $31.6K
Student health insurance: $1.5K (waived if you have your own coverage)
Course packs: $150 (you don't need to buy any books)
Uniform: ~$50
Drug cards: ~$50
Intern license: ~$22
Out of state criminal background check: $66
Rent/food/utility off campus partment: ~$1000/mo

---- optional ----------
Campus parking lots: ~$600 a year.
AphA-ASP membership: ~$50

-----------------------

In-state tuition: $15.8K

And keep your grades up during P1. A good GPA (3.7 for sure, 3.5 probably) alone will get you ~ $5K in scholarships in P2 year. It's great to see your tuition going from $32K go to $11K. Bwahahahahaa 👍

BUT, don't forget that pharmacy school tuitions everywhere is going up like nuts, OSU's have been going up ~9% a year for the last 3 years since I started.

Does anyone know when they will send out course registration information? One of the other schools I've been accepted into has already sent out their course registration stuff. I e-mailed OSU but no response as of yet. Has anyone who has been accepted for Fall 2009 received their course registration information yet?

i am P1 currently. nobody ever told us the scholarships we can get in P2 year based on GPA? is it real? do we need to submit the scholarship application? or will it be automatically granted due to the GPA. I currently have a 3.7 GPA.🙂

There are 2 components to OSU scholarship. Need based scholarship ~$1500 everyone gets provided they are poor (if you are on student loans and work only an part-time intern, you'll qualify). Both me and my girlfriend got it, and she had a 3.1-3.2 GPA for P1 year.

The merit based scholarship, at least a part of it is GPA based. My gf's didn't get any but I got $2500 for a 3.7 GPA and just being a member of APhA. Also was invited to apply for the $1000 Schering Plough scholarship. Again, you need a certain GPA to be invited since my gf didn't. (about 20 awarded, so I guess that's top 15-20% of the class). There might be even more scholarships if you also have leadership activities, but I don't know anything about those.

The scholarship application will come out soon. Watch for e-mail from Joe Orzozo. He'll notify everyone when to fill out and turn in a 1 page app. Scherring Plough scholarship invitation will come in another Joe's e-mail to those invited. That's pretty much it. Very simple. You should hear about pretty soon after spring quarter starts. 🙂

^ correction:

went back to look at my statement of accounts. It seems like Schering Plough scholarship's $1000 reduced my OSU merit scholarship by $500. So I ended up with $2000 OSU merit + $1000 scherring + $1500 need! I guess getting the scherring only really increase your scholarship total by $500.... boooo! 😡

Hi all,

I am an incoming pharmacy student in the fall and am just wondering if anyone is looking for roommates. I am currently looking at university village. I've had a couple of friend who told me this place is great. I am quiet, respectful, don't smoke, don't party (party very very very seldom only), like to keep things clean, especially public areas and am looking for same too. Let me know if you're interested. I am looking for 1 male roommate.

Male or female? I am an incoming freshman as well and wouldn't mind getting a roommate to save save money. I believe there was a female a while back looking for a roommate as well.

I was wondering if the school has sent out any material to us yet. I've recently moved back to my parents house and didn't change the mailing address. I was wondering if I am missing anything right at this moment.

I just talked to Joe today, he said they are just finishing up acceptances and will soon start communicating to us more. We should be receiving more emails in the near future.

So does this mean they are not speaking with anyone right now? I called all day and received no response.

I EMAILED Joe and got back my answer the day after I sent the message. I am very certain that they are busy and trying to wrap things up.

i can't say a particular street.however, do not live on east of High Street, south of Mckinley street. there are many apartments at West and North side of campus within 2-4 miles radius, I recommend you drive here around one day to see yourself.

Could someone please expand on this recommendation? I was planning on getting an apartment like two blocks east of High Street (Summit and like W. 18th). Is this a bad neighborhood because of crime, or because of undergrad students? I did think High Street looked pretty grimey lol, but I would like to live close to campus? Can anyone provide some insight? Thanks in advance for the help!

Adam

High Street definately looks a bit grungy, but its really just commercial properties there on campus and just very very busy. East of High street and North of 14th are the safer parts, even though recently there have been A LOT of cars and apartments getting broken into, vandalized and the like. South of 14th and east of High street, definately stay away from - bad news written all over it.

The only two places I would personally recommend are on the west (Upper Arlington) and southwest side (Victorian Village), everywhere else is fairly dense in undergrads and very noisy on the weekends. Besides, these two sides will get you closest to the pharmacy builiding if you choose to walk or park in the huge lot next to it.
