Hello!

A few weeks ago I visited the Ohio State internal medicine residency program. I found myself unexpectedly impressed, and was wondering if anyone else had thoughts on this institution. I am considering ranking it quite highly, and also enjoyed Columbus (also unexpectedly)!

Any comments are appreciated. Thank you.

I do clinical research in the IM department and know quite a few of the doctors (particularly in endo). While I am not a resident ( I start med school next year), I know alot about the department. There is a huge commitment to research here, (if you are interested in that). There are countless NIH funded research studies happening in the department, including the one I work in, and many of our physicians are nationally renowned in the field. There have been many renovations to our the hospital and the surrounding area, including the brand new Ross heart hosptial, which is absolutley stunning. If you are thinking of specializing, we offer every specialty imagineable.

As far as columbus goes it is a very clean, safe, medium sized city. The night life here is actually very lively. Over the last 10 years there have been major renovations downtown, built around our professional hockey arena. There is alot of art and culture in the city as well, my favorite being the drexel movie theatre, which runs about every good art-house movie that comes along. Let me know if you have any questions about the department specifically or any questions about columbus in general. Just out of curiousity, where are you coming from?
