Hello
I haven't heard anything from OSU, they are supposed to send supplemental applications to those they think are qualified.
so far nothing for me.
anyone heard from them already?
😱

boo osu. At least you didn't introduce it with THE ohio state university when I went to the APhA-ASP Midyear Regional Meeting 🙂

PharmCAS showed OSU receiving my application materials as of Nov. 5th, and I was invited via e-mail to fill out supplemental application around Nov. 10th.
I am still waiting for them to say something about the interview...

well, since they didn't even bother me to fill out supplemental application, i guess they don't like me.
could you share you stat please?

OSU doesn't interview until January. I'm fairly certain that they haven't sent out any invites just yet.

I also got my supplement invite a few days after submitting. I don't know if they send out rejection e-mails if they decide not to send you one, but it seems weird that they'd just leave you hanging like that.

Ahem. Technically, the school is called The Ohio State University. When you watch a Monday night football game, or something like that, and the players introduce themselves, OSU Alum throw in the "The." It just drives some people crazy+pity+

PCAT: 79 composite (92 chem, 87 bio, 78 math, and 50s for the verbals...)
Science GPA: 3.0
Cul. GPA: 3.44
1 year retail pharmacy experience.

Just wait a few days, maybe they have too many applications to look over..

I was thinking the exact same thing! Sooo annoying. It makes me want to put up THE middle finger towards the person saying it.

the thing is they didnt even bother let me fill out their supplemental applications. which pissed me off.🙁

let me tell you what

i graduated undergrad there in engineering

and the reason you are not getting an interview is because of your verbal

ohio and the midwest are very conservative

you stats sound well enough to get you at least an interview in any program you want

but like i said, osu is not very diverse and they are not trying to change their ways to become more diverse and in helping foreign students

you shouldn't have put all your eggs in one basket and hoped osu would be the ONE school

btw...........THE ohio state university is going to kick some a$$ in the NC game!!!!!!!!!!!! 👍

Okay now, the reason OSU hasn't sent out a secondary isn't because they are fundamentally afraid of/dislike diversity. I go there, and trust me, there are lots of minorities and people whose first language is not English.

That being said, your poor verbal scores probably are what is hindering you, because wow, you have great stats otherwise. OSU admits on a rolling basis, so the fact that they haven't contacted you probably doesn't mean they're flat out rejecting you, but are waiting to see how other people's interviews go/who they're accepting/what the class is shaping up to be, etc.

I know, not the best news, but still. Also, maybe you should double check to make sure that you sent in the primary app correctly, and paid right or whatever just to make sure that they actually got it. I know it sounds stupid, but you never know.

Anyway, like I said, you do have amazing science stats, so I'm sure that you'll get in somewhere. Good Luck.

I did amazong on the TOFEL exam, and my reading wasn't bad. I have no problem communicating and my GPA indicates I have no problem in English environment.
OK, so I do not know some words which i will probably never use in my life, so what?

whatever. i already got in somewhere.

85% white
8% black
3% hispanic
6% asian

if that is your definition of "lots", then you need to get out more

i could very well be wrong.........but you probably grew up in ohio, went to high school where there was a couple "forgein" kids...........then when you got to OSU, you thought to yourself, "wow there are "lots" of monorities here"

don't fool yourself kid.........many places, especially pharm schools and med schools, being a "minority" IS the majority............

from your point of view..........what seems like "lots" is actually very very small compared to the "norm"

so.........TRUST ME..........i spent 5 agonizing years there in undergrad back in my day and there are NOT "lots" of "minorities" there..........it just looks that way to you kid

I assume that those stats you listed are for the university of a whole, but for the school of pharmacy, it's a slightly different picture. For the PharmD. class of 2011, "25.4% are from minority groups." I have absolutely no idea where that ranks for pharmacy schools nationally, but take from it what you will. I'm not sure how relevant this all is to the previous discussions on this thread, but I hope it helps someone at least.

I am sorry that you did not have a pleasant experience when you were in Columbus years ago. Most people I know who have gone there end up raving about it.

Also, I tried linking to where I got that quote from, sorry if I didn't get it right.

Anyway, getting back on track...

What exactly is a "minority" in that definition? If you use the broadest legal definition (not to mention OSU's definition), WVU is 98% minority as we are mostly Appalachian-Americans....which is considered a minority now....as it should. When people hear my accent, they think my IQ is about 60 points lower than it really is. God damn brainwashed masses....**** you, ain't is a word.

I am in the OSU pharmD program. I was accepted last year. The OSU collage of pharmacy encourages diversity and take pride in it. That's what I heard from them on my orientation day, and from my own experience at school in both undergraduate+pharmD, I believe that they really do.

Now as far as your stat is concerned, I think your verbal score is probably what hurt you. I had 58 on reading with 98 ovreall on PCAT, and they mentioned about my low score on verbal being a possble problem when I had visited the school before I tunred in my application.

For those of you who applied to school, good luck! I will probably see some of you when you come for interview. =)

Is it a big deal to get an invitation to fill out the supplemental application?

yes, they only invite people who they think qualified to fill out the SA, so if u dont get invited, it means pretty much you are out.😡

Well I got the e-mail to fill it out, but I was wondering what are the chances of getting in if you do get an invitation to fill out the SA? Does anyone know the ratio?

Do you mind me asking why you are not going to attend the interview? Don't like the school or is it something else?

I interviewed at Temple and I am waiting to hear from them. That was my top choice for a couple of reasons... so if I get in I will not go to the Ohio interview.

Anyone going to Ohio State on Jan 11th?

I got the interview on Jan 26...

i'm going for the jan 11th

On another note... I think Ohio State has one of the nicest staffs I have ever seen. They reply to emails very quickly.... even during the holidays!

I am very looking forward to see the school even though i think it's going to be extremely cold in Jan.

Hey, just wondering...when did you submit your supplemental? How long did it take for them to get back to you (for an interview)?

thanks.

I got the email for filling out the supplemental application. What does this mean as in terms of my chances now. I checked pharmcas and it mentioned they only send supplemental applications to selected applicants so does that mean do they only send it to those they are considering for interviews or to just everyone who applies?

I think OSU recently sent an email saying that some people received supplementals and others didnt (those who already got invites)...I'm guessing the REALLY qualified people didn't have to fill out supplementals and already got Interview Invites, and the less qualified but still qualified peoples got the supplemental. That's just my opinion though, I could be totally wrong. Or maybe they like out of state people to fill their supplemental applications? Because afterall, supplementals=$$$. I honestly have no idea, just thought I'd give my 2 cents. Though I do know that Supplemental applications are meant to be "preliminary checks", esp for prerequisites and GPA, etc.

Hei,
I am New at the forum. By the way when did OSU tell to fill up supplementa application?

Are you coming all the way from CA???

Will they pay you any expense?

so what about people like me didn't get supplemental application emails, didn't get interview invites = out of the game?🙁
