I was recently accepted into Ohio State University's DPT program. For any of those not familiar they do not conduct interviews and only offer one open house the day before I am required to commit (and send in my 500$).

I have searched the forum but was not able to find much in the realm of personal testimonies towards the program. I was wondering if anyone has experience with the program, has visited their facilities, or has any other useful knowledge.

Thanks!

I am currently in the program in my first year and work with many graduates of the program here at the Wexner Medical Center at OSU. I've heard more bad than good out of personal testimonies. To be completely honest, I am not impressed with our faculty and their lack of organization as we have run into a shortage of clincal sites due to our large class size much to the chagrin of many disgruntled students. Atwell Hall is also an old facility and the rooms are quite small and outdated, something you would expect the opposite of from OSU. I was put in a similar situation with my deposit and also friends from undergraduate all planning to attend OSU together but we are all kind of regretting it now :/. Where else have you been accepted?

Congrats. How did they notify you? Email or Postal?

Awesome! Congrats. Ohio State is a tough school to get into. Do you mind sharing your stats? Sorry I can't help much with your question, but OSU is my top choice and I'm still waiting to hear back...

PTProspect: expect a pm sometime today.

Madness: Thanks!! I was notified via email on Nov 14th, the email stated I was being offered early acceptance. A letter in the mail followed the email a few days later.

DPT: I sent you a pm

would you mind sending me your stats too? I haven't heard back yet... And does anyone know how many people OSU usually contacts after the first round of acceptances?

Thanks!

Does anyone know if osu has sent out second round acceptances for PT yet? Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I believe it will be in the next 2-3 weeks, as the 2nd open house will be held in early March.

Thanks ptprospect- you mentioned in an earlier post that you aren't that impressed with osu's program. What do you think of Cincinnati's?

I don't really know much about Cincinnati's program since I did not apply there due to not having time to take a second Bio prior to my application.

I know a few friends from undergrad who chose UC over OSU and I haven't heard anything negative about the program. What I have heard are plenty of compliments regarding UC's Drake Rehab Center where many students in the program are able to find work as PT aides to gain great experience in various settings. When I visited a friend at UC they took me to their new (2008) Health Sciences Library, which was terrific. These resources are definitely pros in my book. Most of the Medical campus is fairly new so I would assume their PT facilities are state of the art as well. Sorry I could not give you a better answer.

That's very helpful! Thanks 🙂

A faculty member mentioned that admission decisions have been made for this second round of acceptances in preparation for the upcoming open house. Check your buckeyelink application status. Good luck!

When is the upcoming open house and/or where is there information on that?

When I try to access the supplemental page on buckeyelink, it just says the page is no longer accessible. Is there some place else where I can check my status?

I can support that- I got my wait list notice two Fridays ago. If you didn't receive an email I would call and ask what is happening- my friend didn't get one either and had to call and they informed her of their decision. Good luck

Also my buckeyelink status never changed

I am guessing your friend didn't get an acceptance for her to have to call to find the decision? That is not a good sign 🙁

She was actually wait listed as well, so I wouldn't lose all hope!

Strange, I just gave OSU a call and asked if a decision has been made on my application. The person who picked up the phone wasn't sure so she put me on hold. She came back after a minute to tell me that the decisions will be emailed out within the next couple of weeks. What is this incongruency in these stories. I am going to give the mainline a call as I had to call the second phone number since the first line didn't pick up.

Can you please tell me a little about your stats as well? I am applying this fall to the program and I've heard there are so many applicants! so I am nervous.

Hi, if you would not mind do you mind sharing your stats when you got in, such as GPA and pre req GPA,Gre scores, and number of volunteer hours. Please. Thanks

Does Ohio State strongly emphasize GRE scores? I have a 3.72 GPA and Prereq GPA, but my GRE was a 150V 150Q and 5.5AW.
