Does anyone know how many spots are left at OHSU? Are they still conducting interviews?

They are actively conducting interviews right now. I don't know how many spots are left but we only have 15 or so people in the Facebook group, so I'm guessing they are not close to being done?

has anyone received an interview invite from OHSU recently?? I hope its not too late in the cycle...

I called OHSU admissions on Thursday last week. They said that they "are still reviewing applications and may continue interviewing into April." This gives me a little hope still, because I think I would really like to attend here.

No interview invite for me yet... I guess just keep hoping!

I was there about a week and half ago, and they said that the instate positions were pretty much full; however, there were plenty of out of state positions still vacant. They were conducting interviews almost everyday. Great faculty, and good student population. I received an acceptance email a few days later, but will not be attending because they do not offer residency to out of state students. Also, tuition prices may be increasing substantially in the future. Hope this helps, best of luck.

Sad news for me! 🙁 im instate and was hoping to attend here-
Anybody planning to re-apply to OHSU next cycle??

According to my friend at OHSU, there are roughly 20 OOS still open, all the instate seats are filled.

Have any OOS applicants out there received an interview invite recently?

Good luck to everyone still waiting on schools!

FWIW i called last week and admissions said they'd be interviewing well into april for OOS

That's good news for me... I'm OOS and still waiting for an interview invite.

I just got an interview invite from OHSU today, and they said it was for an actual spot and not a waitlist, I'm from IL

am going but ... i've been hearing some mixed reviews on here about the school?

I actually loved the school, faculty and students and how thoughtful the interview day was for the applicant. However, I was frustrated with their 1-year Human A&P sequence requirement. I took 1-year Human A&P sequence but they were 2 quarter courses. When I went there for an interview, I was told that I did not meet the requirement even though they did not specify 2 semester or 3 quarters for that. (They do specify 2 semester or 3 quarter for all the other requirements.) After I was accepted, I inquired them about the third Human A&P course as the acceptance letter said I had to finish everything by 6/30. I asked for a course number as my school is one of the major feeder schools to OHSU and they would have information from previous applicants but they wouldn't give me the course number. (possibly for legal reasons???) It took a while for them to respond to my emails so I called to get the answer faster. They said they'd let me know if a course meets the requirement if I send them a course number and a vertebrate A&P course was okay. There wasn't any vertebrate or even animal A&P course at my school or anywhere in the state for that matter so I found an animal and plant A&P course and emailed them the course number. They finally told me that the course would satisfy the requirement on the last day for my deposit. I already decided that I didn't want to put the deposit down because of my experience after acceptance.

The other thing I did not like was that you can't become a resident for tuition purposes for all 4 years and the tuition rate could go up by 49% for OOS every year. They are building a new dental school building that class of 2015 could use for their 4th year. I'm guessing that's why they are accepting a lot more OOS students this year.

However, my interviewer was the coolest interviewer I've ever met and loved the fact that I interviewed with one person at a time, making it more personal. I also loved the fact that they matched me with someone with similar background and we got to observe the student clinic. If you don't have any acceptances and don't want to wait for next year, you've already met the A&P requirement and you don't mind spending $310k+ for the next 4 years, I'd go for the interview.

wow ... 49%!? that's crazy...ohsu was one of my top choices when i first applied which is the only reason i am considering going at this point. the location is just ideal for me. .. oh boy. tough decision. :/

TriangleZuikis-did you receive one of those "competitive applicant" letters from OHSU? Congrats on your invite!

Thanks! yeah i did receive one of those letter but in like...november! I honestly did not expect to hear from them after that. This is a huge surprise.

I interviewed there in mid February, and I was told that you could probably expect an 8% tuition increase. They didn't guarantee it, but I HIGHLY doubt tuition would raise 49%!! every year...that'd just be ridiculous. Most schools I interviewed with said they were looking at some substantial tuition increases as well 🙁

Anyways, I really loved the school, and had a great experience with the students, faculty and admins during the interview day!...and just as a side note, it's really hard to judge a school based on these forums, so if you have the opportunity (time and money) to go to an interview, go -- you'll definitely find out if the school is a good fit for ya!

Good luck to anyone still in the waiting game!!

Anyone have any other input about the school/interview day? I got an interview invite as OOS (actually international) yesterday and want to hear more about it 🙂
