Oregon Health and Science University vs Creighton University
From CA, not sure where I want to practice. Most likely not Omaha or Portland.
I am already leaning towards Creighton, but I would like to hear other opinions especially about OHSU to make sure I am not missing something.
COSTS ASIDE, so the school, education, and city themselves
Not sure if I want to specialize yet
Both Schools offer WREB
Creighton
Great clinical experience
Getting a brand new dental school in 2018
Has an undergrad campus, which I really like
Class size of about 85
I would bring my car
Letter grading system
Boards after 2nd year
This was my shortest interview day. I was the only interviewee. I had my interview, took a tour, and left. Only got to speak with one dental student so I did not get to feel the student vibe
Only spoke with one faculty member (my interviewer)
Omaha weather can get below zero
Require professional attire all the time
OHSU
Nice facilities
People seemed happy with their clinical experience
Students seemed pretty content/happy with their choice to go here
Faculty/staff I met were extremely nice and welcoming
Possibly put me in a better position if I wanted to specialize?
Class size of about 75
Take boards after the first year
Can wear casual clothing to class
Grading system is Pass/No Pass
Some students said they have a hard time finding the "right" patients
I would not bring my car
Not sure how I feel about living in an urban setting/taking public transportation all the time
However, Portland would have more stuff to do than Omaha
