As some background, (and i know its early) but I'm hoping to match EM somewhere competitive. I grew up in Virginia but moved out to Oregon for my gap years. If anyone has info on match lists that would be helpful! I took a look myself but they're hard to decipher as a premed student.

OHSU

Pros
-IS tuition 44k
-Lived in the city for a year and a half and I definitely like the city
-Don't know many people but I have a couple old friends living in Portland
-Highest ranked out of all the schools?
cons
-Not near family at all (Virginia)
-emphasis on primary care
-emphasis on rural aspect

VCU

Pros
-Might be getting IS? 35k or 57 if not
-Havent lived in richmond before but I've lived nearby and and I think I would like it
-have two friends that are currently MS1s at VCU
-2 hours from family

Cons
-Might not be as competitive for residency match.
-Doesn't seem to match to the west coast often

Wake

Pros
-couple friends in the PA program
-seems like a peaceful area to focus
good reputation

Cons
-61k tuition yikes
-out in the middle of no where
-still not too close to family

If you’re set on EM, I would pick the cheapest school because it’s not very competitive. Coming from an M1 at Wake, I’d just eliminate Wake altogether since it won’t be the cheapest, it won’t be closest to family, and it’s not the most prestigious. But I also wouldn’t consider Winston-Salem the middle of nowhere haha. The city has like 200k people with Greensboro and High Point nearby. It’s prettymuch the definition of suburbia haha (which I’m a big fan of).
