Overall I found the clinic and facilities at OHSU to be more impressive but I liked the program both schools had to offer. Price is relatively the same for me. One thing about OHSU is the numerous amount of changes that are constantly being made to the curriculum each year with the new dean so I am not sure about that. Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

I am OOS for both

Would like to hear your reason why.

OHSU is much more established and has a very good reputation in the field, and subsequently attracts very competitive applicants. The average GPA of a matriculating student at Western is a 3.28 and the average for OHSU is 3.75. I asked some of the doctors I work with and they all said, hands down, OHSU. Facilities are brand new and the school has historically had a strong clinical basis.

I work under Dr. Skourtes, an alumni of the school and the doctor whom the school is named after, and have been impressed by the caliber of his work and the vision he has for dental care.

Thanks for your response. I do know that OHSU has a well-established reputation and a historically strong clinical program and I was very impressed with their newly renovated clinic and facilities. The only thing that concerned me deals with the link that hellofuturedentists provided above. I did hear about this from both the D4 student I shadowed during my interview day and the other D4 student I had lunch with that the curriculum has been constantly changing and most students do not support the changes being made by the new dean. I do find this concerning. I felt more impressed during my interview day at OHSU than Western, but it's hard to tell what's going to happen with the curriculum during the first year at OHSU, while at Western it was well established and it appeared that the faculty valued students' opinions to improve aspects of their program.
