Anyone else has an oily face problem? My face gets seriously oily all the time and it’s frustrating. I constantly have to go to the bathroom at work every hour to wipe it off and I don’t know if I will that luxury on interview day. I’ve tried literally everything but nothing seems to work. The worse part is, it gets more oily and faster as the weather gets hotter. I just want to know if anyone else has the same problem and how they’ve dealt with it.

It can also be a compensatory mechanism from your constant wiping.
By drying your skin, you might actually be causing it to produce more oil. Might be best to slowly adapt to a happy medium where you’re not having to constantly take care of it.

Have you tried oil-absorbing sheets? Dabbing?

Do you clean your face a lot? Like charcoal face scrub or whatever? Any makeup?

If so, chances are you are either wearing too much makeup or cleaning for face too often and/or aggressively. Need to let your skin find its own neutral point. The oil produced by the sebaceous glands is necessary for healthy skin and they will continue to produce more if there is an imbalance in ‘oil levels,’ so to speak.
 
You could carry some oil blotting sheets around with you. I don't think oily skin would affect you negatively in an interview, but I understand how it could be anxiety-inducing. When I get super oily or start breaking out I always go for a clay mask. The Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask is a classic and you can find it at many drug stores and supermarkets for around $7. I wouldn't try something out on your skin for the first time the night before an interview though.
 
Got the same problem! In my case, it's due to genetics. My father's side got the same problem.
Should consult your doctor to take the shampoos that have Ciclopirox Olamine. It worked for me.
 
Are you a girl? I would say try tailoring all your skincare products to oily skin. Paula’s Choice has an SPF moisturizer that keeps my skin pretty matte throughout the day. Also, I use an oil proofing primer. However with oily skin, you’re never going to get 100% oil free, but it’s really moreso about managing the oil production.

As a general rule, I don’t use any face product that isn’t catered to oily skin. Do you wear makeup? I’ve found theres a big difference between regular foundations & those made specifically for oily skin.

I only clean it twice a day, once in the morning and once at night, so I don’t think I clean it too much. Plus, I use a good moisturizer afterwards so I don’t think I go overboard with the face cleaning

Im not a girl haha. I know the pic might give that impression but I just love that music video with the song and the kids dancing lol. I only use facial products that are for oily skin but nothing has been working. I don’t need my face to be 100% oil free but just free enough that it doesn’t look like I haven’t washed my face in days.

No, I’ve never tried make-up products. But if this works, then I might give it a try. Will basically try anything right now lol.

I use oil blotting sheets now. They are a saving grace but it’s tiresome to have to blot myself every hour. That’s why Im looking for other options that would give me a matte look for a bit longer

Hmmm. I think it might be worth going to a dermatologist. Unless its a genetic thing where everyone in your family has a similar situation, you might be irritating it unwittingly or there may be some imbalance in the skin causing it to overreact and produce a lot of oil.

Yes, washing twice a day and blotting hourly is really not helping.
 
I have an oily forehead. Have you tried the aztec clay mask w/ apple cider vinegar? It helps with oil control (at least for my skin) otherwise my forehead glistens lol.

Probably it is genetics as my dad is as oily as I am

This is what I was saying. Thinking of it from a biology perspective not a modern-beauty perspective...we didn’t evolve with facial scrubs and the like. Let your body take care of itself for a few days and see what happens. Have you ever tried going 2 or 3 days without washing your face?

It made a world of difference for me. Same goes for my oily hair
 
OP, if youre using those medicated face washes, stop that too. Use one for sensitive skin, they’re a lot less harsh or drying.
 
Whether you're female or not, you can use the matte translucent powder in the morning and it'll last you through the day. Use it to touch up after several hours have passed if needed. But I agree long-term you should speak to a dermatologist to determine a solution unique to you.

Oh, I would still suggest trying to find a mattifying moisturizer & primer. It’ll make a big difference.

I had a coworker who would do this when she was out of blotting papers. It always worked for her!

Can confirm. Also if no seat covers, stripping some toilet paper down to 1-ply also does the trick.

I'm sorry, but this is awful advice and I'm cringing as that's my specialty. Washing your face twice is not too much. It's actually recommended to wash your face twice if you're not working, and 3 times on working days (morning, after work, and before bed). Not washing your face for 2-3 days is just ridiculous.

Funny how ive been told this by others in your specialty. Granted, i have insanely sensitive skin and it doesnt take much to set it off.

Im just going by what actually worked for me.

Over-washing is a problem, but 2-3 times is ideal. The key is moisturizing afterwards and using friendly facial washes like cetaphil or cerave.

Do you have any insight about washing eyes? I was told once that washing your eyes isnt good, especially if it’s soapy water
